QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

96 Mr Ntundu - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning whether the Government has plans to spread the tax bands in the country and, if so, which goods and services will be affected.

97 Mr Mukanga - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development:

(a) what was the total cost of the Murundu Water Project and who financed it; and

(b) how are the residents benefiting from this project.

98 Mr Ntundu - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) when the construction of the Cancer Hospital at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) will be completed;

(b) whether the Government has trained doctors to deal with cancer cases in readiness for the opening of the hospital; and

(c) how many cancer doctors are currently at UTH.

99 Mr Mukanga - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs what benefits accrue to the country for accommodating refugees at the expense of Zambians.

100 Mrs Musokotwane - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources:

(a) how much money does the Government earn from Sun International in Livingstone from the special tourism packages agreed upon by agents in South Africa and Sun International; and

(b) whether these special arrangements are beneficial to Zambia considering that the money paid by the tourists is retained by Sun International in South Africa.

101 Mr Sikota - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning:

(a) how many accounts have been opened for the use of the Task Force on Corruption and what type are these;

(b) what have been the total inflows and outflows in these accounts;

(c) what are the current balances in these accounts mentioned in (a);

(d) how many off-shore accounts are maintained by the Task Force on Corruption and where are they; and

(e) who are the signatories to each of these accounts.

102 Mr Sikota - to ask the Vice-President:

(a) how many Cabinet and Deputy Ministers were in Sinjembela Parliamentary Constituency and Shangombo District from 21st January, 2005 to 4th March, 2005 on official duties;

(b) on which dates were the people in (a) above in the said areas and who were they;

(c) what was the total cost of the above tours and the breakdown of such cost in terms of transport, fuel, Ministers’ allowances, allowances for drivers and other support staff, accommodation and upkeep including all other expenses; and

(d) how many Ministers and Deputy Ministers in (a) above were on official leave.

103 Mr Sikota - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a) whether there are any plans to construct new housing stocks in Livingstone and, if so, when; and

(b) what assistance will the Government provide to councils to enable them replenish their housing stocks.

104 Mr Sikota - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) how many clinical trials are being conducted in Zambia on ARV’s;

(b) which drugs are these trials being conducted on;

(c) how many people are participating in the trials;

(d) which areas and at which health facilities are the trials being undertaken; and

(e) whether the trials are voluntary or they are undertaken without the knowledge and consent of the participants.

105 Mr Chibanga - to ask the Vice-President whether the Government is aware that Chiefs Lundu, Chibale and Mulilo in Chama North Parliamentary Constituency have no roads to link them to the district administration at Chama Boma.
