245 Mr Kalunga - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:

(a) what are the names of contractors working on the construction of the following bridges in Serenje:

(i) Lukusashi;
(ii) Fukwe;
(iii) Luombwa; and
(iv) Musangashi;

(b) when were the funds for the construction of the four bridges referred to above released; and

(c) what is the total cost of constructing the bridges above.

246 Mr Simenda - to ask the Minister of Science, Technology and Vocational Training when the construction of Mongu Trades Training Institute will commence.

247 Mr Masowe - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives:

(a) what criteria are used to identify the areas where cattle should be vaccinated; and

(b) what measures has the Government taken to assist cattle farmers identify cattle diseases which are not easily diagnosed by veterinary officers.

248 Mr P G Phiri - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs when police stations in Eastern Province will be provided with better mobile or portable radio communication systems in order to improve communication.

249 Mr A M Chungu - to ask the Minister of Defence:

(a) why the recruitment of officers in 2006 by the Zambia Air Force was not advertised in the public media; and

(b) when and where did the interviews for the 2006 intake take place.

250 Mr Nang’omba - to ask the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development:

(a) what progress, if any, has been made in the exploration and mining of nickel in the Munali Hills of Mazabuka District; and

(b) what measures have been taken to ensure that local people buy shares in the project.

251 Mr Kalumiana - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a) how often are police officers in Western Province, in general, and Mongu, in particular, provided with ration stocks such as mealie meal in a year;

(b) what is the cost of procuring and supplying these stocks; and

(c) who are the suppliers.

252 Mr Mukanga - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a) what services are supposed to be provided by local councils to those who pay service charges on residential plots allocated to them; and

(b) why are such services not provided to those who pay service charges.

253 Mr Mudenda - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives:

(a) how does the Minister reconcile the announcement of a bumper harvest and the declaration of hunger as a national disaster in Zambia;

(b) how much foreign assistance has the Government received following the declaration of hunger as a national disaster; and

(c) whether the Government has any plans to introduce seed subsidy to peasant farmers who produce more than 80% of Zambia’s food requirements.

254 Mr Muntanga - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives what has happened to the houses which were built for staff in the Ministry at the DACOS office in Kalomo.

W45 Mr Kalifungwa - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning:

(a) what sectors were being developed to drive the economy as of 31st December, 2005;

(b) what is the budgetary commitment to support the efforts above in the next five years;

(c) what has been done in the last five years to support the sectors; and

(d) what has been the growth rate of the sectors in the last five years, year by year.
