QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

255 Maj-Gen Zulu - to ask the Minister of Defence whether there are any plans to buy new tractors for the Zambia National Service in order to make it more productive.

256 Maj-Gen Zulu - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development when the Government will electrify Lumezi Hospital.

257 Mr Kalunga - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning:

(a) when funds to revamp the following institutions will be released:

(i) Zambia Cooperatives Federation; and
(ii) Cooperative Bank; and

(b) what difficulties is the Government experiencing in releasing the funds it owes the Zambia Cooperatives Federation.

258 Mr Kalunga - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:

(a) when will funds to rehabilitate Chibale Ring Road be released;

(b) what is the estimated cost of rehabilitating the Chibale Ring Road; and

(c) when will the following bridges on the Chibale Ring Road be rehabilitated:

(i) Lukusashi;
(ii) Mulembo;
(iii) Kaseba-Kapampalwe;
(iv) Milombwe-Kasamba; and
(v) Lelya.

259 Mr Simenda - to ask the Minister of Education when construction of proper buildings at Mutalaiti Primary School in Mongu Central Parliamentary Constituency will commence to replace the pole and mud buildings.

260 Mr Simenda - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development:

(a) how many boreholes were sunk in Mongu Central Parliamentary Constituency in 2005 and where; and

(b) how many are earmarked to be sunk in 2006 and in which places in the Constituency.

261 Mr Masowe - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing what measures has the Government put in place to assist local councils carry out their work of grading feeder roads since most of their graders are beyond repair.

262 Mr Masowe - to ask the Minister of Education what measures the Ministry has taken to assist the newly opened basic schools get qualified teachers for Grade 8 pupils instead of depending on primary school teachers.

263 Mr P G Phiri - to ask the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services when Vubwi area or Chadiza East will be provided with a television signal and other telecommunication facilities.

264 Mr P G Phiri - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a) when rehabilitation of houses and water tanks in some police stations in Chadiza District, which were damaged by RENAMO in 1998, will be undertaken; and

(b) when will Zozwe Police Post be provided with staff houses and proper cells.

265 Mr A M Chungu - to ask the Minister of Education why the following schools in Kawambwa Parliamentary Constituency have not been rehabilitated despite the community’s upfront contribution in the form of bricks, crushed stones and sand which are going to waste:

(i) Longwe Basic School;
(ii) Shikalala Basic School; and
(iii) Ntende Basic School.

266 Mr A M Chungu - to ask the Minister of Defence what measures the Government has taken to replace the Zambia Airforce planes which crashed in Makeni and Mongu.

267 Mr Nang’omba - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources:

(a) what factors led to the resignation of the Chairman of the ZAWA Board in 2005;

(b) why was the contract of the Director General of ZAWA terminated prematurely before expiry in 2007; and

(c) why did the ZAWA Board reinstate a Director who was fired three years earlier for misconduct.

268 Mr Nang’omba - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources:

(a) when will the operations of the Zambia National Tourist Board and the Hotels Board of Zambia be rationalised; and

(b) whether there are any plans to introduce a tourism levy for the purpose of tourism promotion.

269 Mr Kalumiana - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development:

(a) which insurance companies provide insurance services to ZESCO;

(b) how long have these companies provided such services; and

(c) what type of services are being provided and at what cost.

270 Mr Mukanga - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport how many vehicles have been allocated for meteorological inspection in the following provinces:

(i) Southern Province;
(ii) Western Province;
(iii) Copperbelt Province;
(iv) Northern Province; and
(v) Eastern Province.

271 Mr Mukanga - to ask the Minister of Community Development and Social Services:

(a) what measures has the Ministry taken to improve literacy levels of both men and women in the country; and

(b) how many of these measures, if any, have been implemented and where.

272 Mr Muntanga - to ask the Minister of Education what measures has the Ministry taken to avert the possible closure of Kalomo High School in view of the blocked sewerage system at the school.

273 Mr Muntanga - to ask the Minister of Education which community schools in Kalomo Parliamentary Constituency have been developed through BESSIP.

274 Maj-Gen Zulu - to ask the Minister of Education how many retired teachers have not yet been paid their repatriation allowances.
