QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

275 Mr Chongo (Mwense) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a) when the following facilities will be constructed at Mwense Prison:

(i) prison cells;
(ii) bulk store rooms; and
(iii) office accommodation; and

(b) what constraints led to the delay in providing the facilities above to Mwense Prison.

276 Mr Sing’ombe (Dundumwezi) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) when a radio communication system will be installed at the Mubanga Health Centre in Dundumwezi Parliamentary Constituency;

(b) when Bbilili Health Centre will be provided with a motorcycle; and

(c) when a nurse will be posted to Mabomba Health Centre in      Dundumwezi Parliamentary Constituency.

277 Mr Mukanga (Kantanshi) - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) what measures have been taken to ensure that by 2015 children country-wide will have completed a full course of primary education in line with the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) No.2; and

(b) what are some of the hindrances to achieving MDG No.2.

278 Dr Machungwa (Luapula) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing whether there are any plans to build pedestrian bridges across busy roads in the cities of Lusaka, Kitwe and Ndola where many pedestrians have been killed while crossing such busy roads.

279 Mr Katuka (Mwinilunga East) - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport when the Zambia Postal Services Corporation will reconstruct the Zambezi District Post Office building which collapsed a few years ago.

280 Mr Hamusonde (Nangoma) - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport how many registered buses, mini-buses and taxis are operating in the country.

281 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development:

(a) how many areas have been earmarked for electrification in    Luapula Province under the Rural Electrification Programme,    district by district; and

(b) when the projects at (a) above are expected to be completed.

282 Ms Kapata (Mandevu) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing when the following will be undertaken in Mandevu Parliamentary Constituency:

(a) repair of roads;

(b) construction of communal toilets; and

(c) provision of safe drinking water to the following compounds:

(i) Ng’ombe;
(ii) Marapodi;
(iii) Mandevu;
(iv) Chipata;
(v) Kabanana; and
(vi) Chazanga.

283 Dr Katema (Chingola) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development when Kalilo Growth Centre in Chingola Parliamentary Constituency will be electrified under the Rural Electrification Programme.

284 Mr Beene (Itezhi-tezhi) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply when a bridge will be constructed across the Kafue River at Baanga to connect Namwala and Itezhi-tezhi Districts and replace the old pontoon.

285 Mr Kambwili (Roan) - to ask the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development:

(a) what the impact of the new mining tax regime has been on the development of the Mulyashi Mine in Luanshya District;

(b) how many mining companies protested against the new tax    regime of 2008; and

(c) what the reasons for the protest were.

286 Mr Mwango (Kanchibiya) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:

(a) when the construction of Chiundaponde road in Kanchibiya    Parliamentary Constituency will be completed;

(b) how much money is needed to complete the construction of this road;

(c) what is the time frame for completing the construction of the road;

(d) which contractor has been awarded the contract to work on the above project; and

(e) when was the last time Government worked on the road.

287 Mr Mweemba (Magoye) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a) how many council houses were sold from 2000 to 2006 in the following towns:

(i) Livingstone;
(ii) Lusaka;
(iii) Ndola; and
(iv) Kitwe; and

(b) how much money was raised by each Council from the sale of houses at (a) above.

288 Mr E C Mwansa (Chifunabuli) - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources what measures have been taken to protect and increase statunga antelopes and lechwes in the Bangweulu Plains.

289 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a) what measures the Government has taken to decongest roads in Lusaka City; and

(b) whether there are any plans of re-locating the Lusaka Railway Station so as to create room for construction of a road from the Great East Road fly-over bridge, near ZESCO Headquarters, to Kafue roundabout fly-over bridge near FINDECO House.

290 Mr Mushili (Ndola Central) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:

(a) when Mwabombeni road in Twapia Township in Ndola Central Parliamentary Constituency was last worked on and when it will be considered for complete reconstruction; and

(b) when Misundu-ZESCO road in Chipulukusu Township in Ndola Central Parliamentary Constituency will be constructed.

291 Mr Mwenya (Nkana) - to ask the Minister of Education when the Ministry will
supply desks to the following secondary schools in Nkana Parliamentary Constituency:

(i) Buseko;
(ii) Kamitondo;
(iii) Kawama;
(iv) Miseshi; and
(v) Mindolo.

292 Dr Kalumba (Chienge) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:

(a) when the Government will secure funding for upgrading of the Kashikishi-Lunchinda road to bitumen standard;

(b) how much money was paid to China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC) to grade and maintain the road above, and for what period of time; and

(c) how much maintenance has CGC undertaken to keep the road accessible from the time it was graded.

293 Mr Nyirenda (Kamfinsa) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs when the piece of land between Kamfinsa Mobile Unit and Kamfinsa Prison will be made available to the Kitwe City Council for construction of a market for Kamfinsa residents.

294 Mr Milupi (Luena) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply when the following roads will be constructed in Luena Parliamentary Constituency:

(i) Limulunga-Charlton;
(ii) Limulunga-Mushitwambumu-Lukulu; and
(iii) Limulunga-Namitome.
