QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

341 Mr Mwangala (Nalolo) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development whether there are any plans to construct dams for energy use in Shekela and Kataba in Nalolo Parliamentary Constituency.

342 Mr F R Tembo (Nyimba) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives:

(a) what the estimated total cost of constructing Nyimba Farmers’ Training Centre in Nyimba Parliamentary Constituency is; and

(b) when the contractor will complete the above project.

343 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development when the Government will implement the Rural Electrification Master Plan country-wide.

344 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Science, Technology and Vocational Training:

(a) why the Government decided to introduce Chinese and Japanese languages in the curriculum of Evelyn Hone College of Applied Arts and Commerce;

(b) what criteria were used to arrive at this decision; and

(c) what economic benefits the country will gain from this development.

345 Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services why the Ministry has not posted a district information officer to Chilubi District for over eight years now.

346 Mr Katuka (Mwinilunga East) - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) how many teachers were recruited in 2007 and 2008 country-wide;

(b) of the teachers at (a) above, how many were posted to the North-Western Province, district by district;

(c) how many of the teachers at (b) above are currently at their stations; and

(d) what measures the Ministry has taken to ensure that more teachers are posted to the North-Western Province considering that the Province has continued to record low pass rates.

347 Mr Katuka (Mwinilunga East) - to ask the Vice-President when accounting services will be provided to the office of the District Commissioner to facilitate prudent management of public funds.

348 Mr Hamusonde (Nangoma) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing whether the Government has any plans to demolish squatter compounds in Lusaka, such as Chibolya, which are too close to the City Centre in order to pave way for the expansion of the city by constructing modern shopping malls.

349 Mr Hamusonde (Nangoma)  - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport what measures the Government has taken to control the unbecoming behaviour of mini-bus drivers.

350 Mr Mwangala (Nalolo) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a) how many Chiefs’ palaces were destroyed by heavy rains during the 2007/2008 rainy season; and

(b) whether there are any plans to rehabilitate the affected palaces and at what cost.

351 Mr F R Tembo (Nyimba) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply when the Government will rehabilitate the following roads in Nyimba Parliamentary Constituency:

(i) Nyalugwe road, off T4; and
(ii) Mtilizi Loop, off T4.

352 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing when the Ministry will construct a market in Chief Nabwalya’s area in Mfuwe Parliamentary Constituency.

353 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing what measures the Ministry has taken to ensure good management and maintenance of grave yards country-wide.

354 Mr Ntundu (Gwembe) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives:

(a) what financial support the Government renders to the Zambia National Farmers Union;

(b) how much money the Government has disbursed to the Union from inception to-date;

(c) whether the Government has any supervisory role over the Union  and, if so, what role is it; and

(d) which authority is responsible for constituting the Union’s top management.

355 Mr Ntundu (Gwembe) - to ask the Minister of Labour and Social Security:

(a) what the composition of the Board of the Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board is;

(b) what the conditions of service for the Board members of the Fund are;

(c) what the term of office of the Board members is;

(d) what financial support the Government renders to the Fund; and

(e) how the Fund uses the money when there are no claims to settle.

356 Mr Imenda (Lukulu East) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives what programmes the Government has undertaken to construct dams and other irrigation schemes in order to boost production in drought prone areas.

357 Mr Imenda (Lukulu East) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply when a road to link Lukulu to Mongu via Luena Parliamentary Constituency will be constructed.

358 Mr I Banda (Lumezi) - to ask the Minister of Tourism,  Environment and Natural Resources:

(a) how many cases of conflicts involving humans and the following wild animals have so far been recorded in Lumezi Parliamentary Constituency:

  (i) lions;
  (ii) crocodiles;
  (iii) elephants; and
  (iv) other animals;

(b) how many people were killed as a result of the conflicts at (a) above; and

(c) what measures the Government has taken to safeguard the lives of the people against wild animals.

359 Ms Limata (Luampa) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives when the co-operative building which collapsed several years ago, in Luampa Parliamentary Constituency, will be re-built.

360 Mr Kambwili (Roan) - to ask the Minister of Education  how many junior secondary and high schools the Government built in each province from January, 2002 to December, 2007, year by year.

361 Dr Chishya (Pambashe) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives:

(a) how many tonnes of tea the Kawambwa Tea Company has    produced since 2004; and

(b) how much of the tea at (a) above was exported and how much  was consumed locally.

362 Mrs J N Phiri (Luanshya) - to ask the Minister of Health when the female ward at Thompson Hospital in Luanshya will be rehabilitated.

363 Mr E C Mwansa (Chifunabuli) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives when fish restocking will commence in Lakes Bangweulu, Mweru and Mweru-Wa-Ntimpa in Northern and Luapula Provinces.

364 Major Chibamba (Shiwang’andu) - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) when staff houses at the following basic schools in Shiwang’andu Parliamentary Constituency were last rehabilitated:

(i) Mukwikile;
(ii) Kalikiti;
(iii) Mwika;
(iv) Kalonga;
(v) Mutitima;
(vi) Kantimba; and
(vii) Lwanya; and

(b) whether the Ministry has any plans to alleviate the plight of the teachers at the schools at (a) above and, if so, what plans are these.

365 Mr Mwapela (Kalabo Central) - to ask the Minister of Education when the Ministry will rebuild the pole and mud classrooms and teachers’ houses at Ufufu Basic School in Kalabo Central Parliamentary Constituency.
