QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

371 Mr I Banda (Lumezi) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives:

(a) how many registered multi-purpose co-operative societies are currently in Lumezi Parliamentary Constituency, chiefdom by chiefdom; and

(b) how many of the registered co-operative societies at (a) above  benefited from the Fertiliser Support Programme during the following farming seasons:

(i) 2006/2007; and
(ii) 2007/2008.

372 Ms Limata (Luampa) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives when the co-operative building which collapsed several years ago, in Luampa Parliamentary Constituency, will be re-built.

373 Ms Limata (Luampa) - to ask the Minister of Education when the following schools in Luampa Parliamentary Constituency will be  provided with desks:

(i) Milumbwa Basic School;
(ii) Mwandasengo Basic School;
(iii) Chacha Basic School;
(iv) Lenvu Basic School;
(v) Namasheshe Basic School;
(vi) Mukunkike Basic School;
(vii) Mbale Basic School;
(viii) Kanyenze Basic School;
(ix) Luampa High School; and
(x) Lui Basic School.

374 Dr Chishya (Pambashe) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives:

(a) how many tonnes of tea the Kawambwa Tea Company has produced since 2004; and

(b) how much of the tea at (a) above was exported and how much  was consumed locally.

375 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply when the Great North Road will be resurfaced and tarred in order to reduce road traffic accidents.

376 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Health whether there are any plans to allocate a vehicle to the Mfuwe Health  Centre to alleviate transport problems between the health centre and the district headquarters.

377 Mr Mwapela (Kalabo Central) - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources:

(a) when the Ministry will stop the continued issuance of forest concession licences to foreign investors which has retarded the growth of the timber industry, promoted capital flight and inhibited foreign exchange earnings; and

(b) whether the Ministry has any deliberate plans to encourage foreign investors to build factories for manufacturing timber products for the local and export market.

378 Mr Mwapela (Kalabo Central) - to ask the Minister of Health when Lukona Health Centre in Kalabo Central Parliamentary Constituency will be provided with the following:

(i) an ambulance;
(ii) a mortuary;
(iii) X-ray equipment; and
(iv) drugs.

379 Mr I Banda (Lumezi) - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources:

(a) how many tourist lodges are in Lumezi Parliamentary Constituency, name by name;

(b) how many local people and foreigners are employed in the lodges at (a) above; and

(c) whether the lodges above support social and economic activities in their local communities and, if so,  what are they.

380 Mr Katuka (Mwinilunga East) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing whether the Government has any plans to provide grants to water utility companies country-wide in order to enhance their operations and improve service delivery.

381 Mr Katuka (Mwinilunga East) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) how many of the doctors registered with the Medical Council of Zambia are of the following nationalities:

(i) Congolese;
(ii) Cubans; and
(iii) Egyptians; and

(b) what the Ministry’s general assessment of the doctors at (a) above  is.

382 Mr Hamusonde (Nangoma) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development:

(a) when the Rural Electrification Programme will commence in    Nangoma Parliamentary Constituency;

(b) how long the exercise will take to complete; and

(c) when Senior Chief Shakumbila’s Palace, in Nangoma Parliamentary Constituency, will be electrified.

383 Mr Hamusonde (Nangoma) - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources:

(a) who owns the Blue Lagoon National Park in Nangoma    Parliamentary Constituency; and

(b) whether the local community benefits from the Park and, if not, why.

384 Mr C K Banda (Chasefu) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development when the Government will return the electricity generator which the European Union donated to Mwanjabantu Clinic in 1998.

385 Mr C K Banda (Chasefu) - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources:

(a) how many professional hunters the country has currently;

(b) of the professional hunters at (a) above, how many are Zambian citizens; and

(c) when the Government will introduce a policy to empower Zambians to operate and run hunting concessions.
