QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER
401 Mr Mukanga (Kantanshi) - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources whether the communication tower masts being erected by the mobile phone providers country-wide are not dangerous to people and the environment.
402 Mr I Banda (Lumezi) - to ask the Minister of Justice:
(a) when the court building at Zumwanda Local Court in Lumezi Parliamentary Constituency was destroyed;
(b) how many building structures for the Judiciary Department are still in existence at Zumwanda Local Court;
(c) whether court proceedings are undertaken in the absence of the court buildings at Zumwanda; and
(d) when new court buildings will be constructed at Zumwanda Local Court to facilitate the resumption of normal court proceedings.
403 Mr Katuka (Mwinilunga East) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:
(a) when the repair works on the Mutanda/Mwinilunga road will be completed;
(b) how much money has so far been spent on the road; and
(c) when a contractor to work on the portion of the road, which is not part of the on-going contract, will be engaged.
404 Mr Mwangala (Nalolo) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning:
(a) how many civil servants have not been paid their retirement benefits by the Public Service Pension Fund in Nalolo Parliamentary Constituency;
(b) when the civil servants at (a) above will be paid their retirement benefits; and
(c) whether there are any plans to decentralise the Public Service Pension Fund to minimise the hardships which retirees undergo in accessing their benefits.
405 Mr F R Tembo (Nyimba) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:
(a) how many accidents occurred on the Great East Road in 2007; and
(b) how many people died and how many survived the accidents at (a) above.
406 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development whether the Ministry has any plans to tap electricity from Kapamba Falls in Mfuwe Parliamentary Constituency.
407 Mr Imenda (Lukulu East) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing why the Lusaka City Council and other local authorities allocate plots in areas such as Chazanga and Chalala before these areas are serviced with roads, water reticulation systems, power lines and sewer systems.
408 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development:
(a) what criteria are used to select the order of electrification of rural areas which should be electrified first; and
(b) whether there are any plans to construct dams in Mfuwe Parliamentary Constituency.
409 Ms Limata (Luampa) - to ask the Minister of Education when uncompleted building structures for the following schools, in Luampa Parliamentary Constituency, which have remained unattended to for a long time, will be completed:
(i) Milumbwa Basic School;
(ii) Chacha Basic School;
(iii) Lui Basic School;
(iv) Namasheshe Basic School;
(v) Mwandasengo Basic School;
(vi) Kanyenze Basic School;
(vii) Lenvu Basic School;
(viii) Luampa High School; and
(ix) Nakanyembe Basic School.
410 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives whether there are any plans to demarcate part of Chief Mukungule’s area into a farming block.
411 Mr C K Banda (Chasefu) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives when Kaimbonye and Luwerezi (Emusa) Dams in Chasefu Parliamentary Constituency will be rehabilitated.
412 Mr Katuka (Mwinilunga East) - to ask the Vice-President:
(a) what deliberate measures the Government has taken to ensure that the mineral explorations and mining activities taking place in the North-Western Province benefit the indigenous local communities in the Province; and
(b) how the vulnerable local groups, including small scale farmers, women and children and the handicapped will benefit from the mining activities at (a) above.
413 Mr Hamusonde (Nangoma) - to ask the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development:
(a) how many mines are in Nangoma Parliamentary Constituency;
(b) what type of minerals are produced by the mines at (a) above; and
(c) whether the Government benefits from these mines.
414 Mr C Mulenga (Chinsali) - to ask the Minister of Sport, Youth and Child Development:
(a) how many street children were sent for rehabilitation at the youth centres country-wide from 2002 to 2007; and
(b) how many street children in the youth centres got pregnant during the above period.
415 Mr Mwangala (Nalolo) - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources:
(a) what measures have been taken to prevent the destruction of crops in Sinjembela Parliamentary Constituency by the annual migration of elephants from neighbouring Botswana; and
(b) whether there are any plans to compensate or support the people whose crops are annually destroyed by the elephants at (a) above.
QUESTIONS FOR WRITTEN ANSWER
W2 Mr Kambwili (Roan) - to ask the Minister of Health:
(a) what the names of the ordinary Zambians who were sent for medical treatment outside Zambia by the Government from 1st January to 31st December, 2007 are; and
(b) how much the Government spent on those at (a) above.
W3 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Vice-President:
(a) how many projects were contracted out to foreign companies in the following Ministries from 2001 to 2007, company by company:
(i) Ministry of Works and Supply;
(ii) Ministry of Health; and
(iii) Ministry of Education;
(b) what the signed contracts above were worth, company by company; and
(c) how many companies have failed to honour their contracts, company by company.
W4 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Labour and Social Security:
(a) how many trade unions had their collective agreements running in 2007, company by company;
(b) how many trade unions had their collective agreements extended and for how long, company by company; and
(c) how many companies have been violating collective agreements and what measures the Government has taken against these companies.
W5 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Labour and Social Security:
(a) what the total labour force is in the following trade unions:
(i) Zambia Congress of Trade Unions;
(ii) Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union of Zambia; and
(iii) Zambia National Union of Teachers;
(b) how much money was collected from affiliated members in 2006 and 2007, union by union; and
(c) what the total wage bill for labour unions in the period at (b) above was, union by union.
W6 Mr Kambwili (Roan) - to ask the Minister of Justice:
(a) what the names of the persons who were compensated by the Government for wrongful detention from 1st January, 1992 to 1st January, 2002 are; and
(b) how much money was paid to each person.
W7 Mr Kambwili (Roan) - to ask the Minister of Education how many students
were admitted to the University of Zambia from 2002 to 2007, province by province.
W8 Mr Kambwili (Roan) - to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs what the names of the following categories of staff currently serving in Zambian missions abroad are:
(i) High Commissioners/Ambassadors;
(ii) Deputy Heads of Missions; and
(iii) First Secretaries.
