QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

416 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Vice-President:

(a) how much money the Government has spent on relief food for the people in Mfuwe Parliamentary Constituency from 2001 to-date;

(b) what the causes of hunger in the Constituency are; and

(c) what measures the Government has taken to address the problem at (b) above.

417 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport when reliable public transport will be introduced between Chief Nabwalya’s area and the Mfuwe Business Centre in order to reduce transport problems.

418 Mr Katuka (Mwinilunga East) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing when Mumbezhi will be granted district status considering that the huge mining investment at Lumwana is in that area.

419 Mr Katuka (Mwinilunga East) - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) how much money the Ministry has so far distributed country-wide to clear teachers’ outstanding housing allowances; and

(b) how much money is outstanding and when the rest of the arrears will be paid.

420 Mr Hamusonde (Nangoma) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply when feeder roads in Nangoma Parliamentary Constituency will be graded.

QUESTIONS FOR WRITTEN ANSWER

W9 Mr Mwangala (Nalolo) - to ask the Minister of Community Development and Social Services how many Community Welfare Assistance Committees (CWACs) are operational in the following wards in Nalolo Parliamentary Constituency:

(i) Kambai;
(ii) Makoka;
(iii) Shekela;
(iv) Lyamakumba;
(v) Silowana;
(vi) Kataba;
(vii) Muoyo; and
(viii) Nanjuca.

W10 Dr Machungwa (Luapula) - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) how many of the 150 Constituencies in the country do not have a secondary or high school;

 (b) which of these constituencies at (a) above are;

 (c) which of the constituencies above are rural; and

 (d) when the Government will rectify the situation.

W11 Dr Machungwa (Luapula) - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport:

(a) how much money was allocated for canal clearing from 2001 to 2007, year by year;

(b) what the total number of kilometres that require to be cleared in each of the following provinces is:

(i) Luapula Province;
(ii) Northern Province;
(iii) Western Province; and
(iv) Central Province; and

(c) how much the Government has spent, on the average, to clear one kilometre of the canals.

W12 Mr Chimbaka (Bahati) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning:

(a) how much money the Government spent on foreign trips from 2002 to 2007 by the following:

(i) Permanent Secretaries; and
(ii) Cabinet and Deputy Ministers;

(b) what percentage of GDP the figure at (a) above represents in the same period; and

(c) what comparative development resulted from the above
trips.

W13 Mr Chimbaka (Bahati) - to ask the Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry what economic strategy the Ministry has instituted to ensure the following:

(i) Zambia attains maximum benefit from the Everything But Arms (EBA) arrangements;

(ii) Zambia does not lose her revenue base when the Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) are signed; and

(iii) The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) and the Citizens Empowerment Commission address issues for which they were created.

W14 Mr Hamududu (Bweengwa) - to ask the Vice-President:

(a) what measures the Government has taken to improve service delivery in the Civil Service; and

(b) what mechanisms are in place to assess the effectiveness of these measures.

W15 Mr Mwangala (Nalolo) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:

(a) how many Government projects have not been completed, or have been abandoned and shoddily done as of 31st March, 2008 in the Western Province;

(b) what action the Government has taken against the erring    contractors for the shortcomings at (a) above; and

(c) whether there are any plans to complete the construction of Muoyo Police Post in Nalolo Parliamentary Constituency.
