QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

95    Mr Mukanga (Kantanshi) - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport:

(a)    how many vehicles have been registered from 2006 to-date, year by year; and

(b)    how many road traffic accidents were recorded in the same period.

96    Mr Lumba (Solwezi Central) - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport:

(a)    what the progress on the proposed construction of the Solwezi-Chingola rail line is; and

(b)    who the promoters and financiers of the project are.

97    Colonel Chanda (Kanyama) - to ask the Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry why the cost of doing business in Zambia has remained high.

98    Mr Lumba (Solwezi Central) - to ask the Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry:

(a)    what the discounting factor used by RP Capital in the valuation of ZAMTEL assets was;

(b)    what the period of future cashflows used in the valuation was; and

(c)    what other assumptions were made in the valuation.

99    Colonel Chanda (Kanyama)  - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning:

(a)    why bank lending rates in Zambia have remained high in spite of the inflation rate being less than 10%; and

(b)    whether the Government has any plans to compel banks to reduce their respective base rates.

QUESTIONS FOR WRITTEN ANSWER

W5    Mr Kambwili (Roan) - to ask the Minister of Science, Technology and Vocational Training:

(a)    whether the National Science and Technology Council has ever achieved its mandate;

(b)    what some of the major achievements of the Council have been; and

(c)    what some of the challenges faced by the Council have  been.

W6    Colonel Chanda (Kanyama) - to ask the Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry:

(a)    how much money had been disbursed for various projects by the Citizens Empowerment Economic Commission in Kanyama Parliamentary Constituency as of 31st July, 2010; and

(b)    of the total amount disbursed, how much was targeted at the following areas:

(i)    projects by women; and    
(ii)    job creation activities; and

(c)    what the names of the beneficiaries are.
