QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

239 Mr Lubinda - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a) which markets have been and are being constructed under the urban markets programme and how much was allocated to each of these;

(b) what level of construction were the markets at (a) above as of July, 2006; and
 
(c) what were the financing arrangements for the markets.

240 Mr Imenda - to ask the Vice-President what actions the Government is taking towards transforming the SADC Parliamentary Forum into a Regional Parliament.

241 Mr Kasongo - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) how many basic schools are currently in the country; and

(b) what measures the Government has taken to up-grade basic schools to high school status.

242 Mr Kasongo - to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs when the NEPAD National Action Plan will be implemented.

243 Dr Chishimba - to ask the Minister of Education what criteria the University of Zambia administration used to discipline students who were alleged to have fraudulently changed from self-sponsorship to Government sponsorship in 2006.

244 Dr Chishimba - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning whether the Government will consider increasing the salaries of civil servants since Zambia has qualified for debt cancellation following the attainment of the HIPC Completion Point.

245 Mr Chimbaka - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives when transport will be provided to the District Agricultural Coordinator and the Research Department in Mansa.

246 Mr Chimbaka - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning how much money does the Government owe the Public Service Pension Fund.

247 Mr Katuka - to ask the Minister of Health when the Government will re-open Kalene Training School in Mwinilunga District.

248 Mr Hamir - to ask the Minister of Education whether the Government has any plans to provide solar panels to schools in the Chitambo Parliamentary Constituency which currently do not have electricity.

249 Mr Hamir - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) why the construction of clinics at Yoram Mwanje and Mulaushi in the Chitambo Parliamentary Constituency was discontinued; and

(b) when construction of the clinics at (a) above will resume.

250 Mr Misapa - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development whether the Government has plans to build a hydro-power station at Lumangwe and Kabwelume Water Falls in Mporokoso District to mitigate against the looming power deficit likely to be experienced by 2008.

251 Mr Misapa - to ask the Minister of Education when Lupunga Basic School in the Mporokoso Parliamentary Constituency will be electrified.

252 Mr Mukanga - to ask the Minister of Lands:

(a) when title deeds will be issued to those who bought ex-ZCCM housing units during the privatisation of parastatal companies; and
 
(b) how many housing units were sold by ZCCM to sitting tenants, province by province.

253 Mr Mukanga - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a) how many vehicles were distributed to each police station or post country-wide from 2005 to 2006; and

(b)  when the remaining police stations or posts will benefit from similar arrangements in future.

Accelerated Mechanisms to Respond to the HIV/AIDS Pandemic:  That this House urges the Government to urgently respond to the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the country by ensuring that all the estimated 200,000 Zambians living with HIV/AIDS have access to anti-retroviral therapy and other alternative remedies.
