QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

485 Mr Chazangwe (Choma Central) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives what measures the Ministry has taken to eradicate and contain cattle diseases in the Southern Province, in general, and the C.B.P.P. in Kazungula District, in particular.

486 Mr Ntundu (Gwembe) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development when Sinafala School and Health Centre in Gwembe District will be connected to the national power grid.

487 Mr Sichamba (Isoka West) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply when the Nsasa Mwenje/Musindano Nakonde and Kanyala Mwanimpangala roads will be rehabilitated.

488 Mr E C Mwansa (Chifunabuli) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development whether the Government has ratified and domesticated the SADC Protocol on Shared Watercourse Systems and, if so, how will Zambia benefit from the Protocol.

489 Mr Msichili (Kabushi) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing what the Government policy is to vitalise and strengthen local authorities in all spheres.

490 Mr Kapeya (Mpika) -  to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing when provinces bearing English names, such as Eastern, Central, Northern and Western Provinces, will be renamed preferably with local names.
491 Mr Mwangala (Nalolo) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply whether the Government has plans to tar or gravel the following roads in the Western Province:

(i) Matebele/Shangombo road;
(ii) Nangweshi/Sinjembela road; and
(iii) Nangweshi/Mutome via Mulele road.

492 Mr Hamusonde (Nangoma) - to ask the Minister of Education when the Government will construct a high school in Nangoma Parliamentary Constituency.

493 Mr Chongo (Mwense) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) how many medical personnel are at all the health centres in Mwense Parliamentary Constituency; and

(b) how many of those at (a) above are qualified to administer maternal health care.

494 Mr Mbewe (Chadiza) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs when the Ministry will decentralise the issuance of certificates of registration to clubs.

495 Mr C Mulenga (Chinsali) - to ask the Minister of Health when the following abandoned health posts in Chinsali Parliamentary Constituency will be completed:

(i) Kalela Health Post;
(ii) Cheswa Health Post;
(iii) Mushinda Health Post;
(iv) Chimbele Health Post; and
(v) Nashinga Health Post.

496 Mr Sikazwe (Chimbamilonga) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:

(a) when the Bulaya Pontoon on Lake Mweru-Wantipa will be operational; and

(b) whether there are any plans to replace the pontoon by constructing a bridge across the lake and, if so, when feasibility studies for such a project will commence.

497 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development:

(a) how much loss was incurred by the Chambishi Metals Plc during the closure of the smelter by the Mines Safety Department in April, 2007; and

(b) what led to the closure of the smelter.

498 Mr Imenda (Lukulu East) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning what was the total revenue collected in 2004 and 2005 from the activities of the following:

(i) the Zambia Police Force;
(ii) the Prison Service; and
(iii) the Zambia National Service.

499 Mr Simama (Kalulushi) - to ask the Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry how much the following former Zaffico plants and equipment were sold for:

(i) Treatment Plant;
(ii) Kafubu Depot Sawmills;
(iii) Kafubu Depot Joinery;
(iv) Kalibu Sawmills;
(v) Workshop and fleet of vehicles; and
(vi) Dola Hill Sawmill.

500 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning whether there are any plans to employ senior management staff in the Ministry on a permanent basis rather than on contract.

501 Dr Chishimba (Kasama Central) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs how many illegal immigrants were deported in 2005 and what are their nationalities.

502 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning whether the Government has any plans to stop paying expatriate employees in foreign currencies.

503 Mr C Mulenga (Chinsali) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives whether the Government has plans to extend the animal restocking programme to Mbesuma ranch in Chinsali Parliamentary Constituency and, if so, when.
504 Mr Milupi (Luena) - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport:

(a) when Mongu Airport will be expanded to cater for the increased volume of international flights; and

(b) when routine and regular flights to Mongu from Lusaka and Livingstone will commence.

Excess Expenditure Appropriation (2004) - Bill to approve the excess expenditure of moneys aggregating one hundred and thirty-six billion, one hundred and eighty-five million, five hundred and twenty-four thousand, and eighteen kwacha required for the services of the Republic during the financial year which ended on 31st December, 2004.      (N.A.B. 13/2007)

The Minister of Home Affairs

Non-Governmental Organisations - Bill to provide for the co-ordination and registration of non-governmental organisations; establish the Non-Governmental Organisations Board and the Zambia Congress of Non-Governmental Organisations; constitute the Council for Non-Governmental Organisations; enhance the transparency, accountability and performance of non-governmental organisations; and provide for matters connected with or incidental to the foregoing.        (N.A.B. 22/2007)
