QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

615 Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport whether there are any plans to provide smaller fibre boats to the people living in the swampy areas in Chilubi Parliamentary Constituency who currently depend on dug out canoes for transport.

616 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a) how much the Government funded Mpika District Council from 2001 to 2006, year by year; and

(b) what projects benefited from the funding above in the district, year by year.

617 Mr Kambwili (Roan) - to ask the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development:

(a) how many Zambians have been granted small-scale copper mining licences from the time the privatisation exercise commenced; and

(b) how much tax the companies at (a) above have paid to the Government.

618 Mr Imenda (Lukulu East) - to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs what is the status of Zambia’s obligation to pay subscription fees to the following international organisations:

(i) the United Nations;
(ii) the African Union;
(iii) the Commonwealth;
(iv) COMESA and SADC; and
(v) the World Trade Organisation.

619 Mr Chimbaka (Bahati) - to ask the Minister of Justice when the International Convention on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights will be domesticated.

620 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing when the following works will be carried out at the Soweto Market in Lusaka:

(i) laying of a concrete slab;
(ii) tarring of roads within the market; and
(iii) improving sanitation at the market.

621 Dr Chishimba (Kasama Central) - to ask the Minister of Justice:

(a) how many Acts of Parliament contain clauses which were declared unconstitutional by the Courts of Law in the past fifteen years;

(b) how many of these Acts above were brought to Parliament for amendments; and

(c) which British Acts are still applicable in Zambia.

622 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Community Development and Social Services how much money the Government released to assist traditional ceremonies in Zambia from 2005 to 2006, ceremony by ceremony.

623 Mr Mbewe (Chadiza) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply when the following roads will be tarred:

(i) Chipata-Chadiza road; and
(ii) Chipata-Mfuwe road.

624 Mr Nyirenda (Kamfinsa) - to ask the Minister of Sport, Youth and Child Development what measures the Government has taken to empower the youths in the country.

625 Mr Chanda (Kankoyo) - to ask the Minister of Labour and Social Security:

(a) what the current policy on recruitment of expatriate labour is;

(b) which specific jobs on the Zambian labour market cannot be done by Zambians and require expatriate personnel; and

(c) what the Government’s policy is on equal pay for equal work.

626 Mr Singombe (Dundumwezi) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a) how many foreigners were deported from Zambia from 2000 to 2006 and what were their nationalities; and

(b) how many came back out of those deported and how many were re-arrested.

627 Mr Simama (Kalulushi) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development what measures the Government has taken to improve electricity supply to Chambishi Town.

628 Mr Chimbaka (Bahati) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives when the cattle restocking exercise in Bahati Parliamentary Constituency will commence.

629 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) when a new ambulance will be purchased for Chipili Health Centre; and

(b) whether the Ministry has any plans to construct a health centre at Mulunda Village in Chipili Parliamentary Constituency.

630 Mr Kambwili (Roan) - to ask the Minister of Community Development and Social Services:

(a) how many under-privileged school-going children the Ministry has assisted financially from 2004 to 2006; and

(b) what plans the Ministry has for the blind people at Fisenge Blind Settlement.

631 Mr Kapeya (Mpika) -  to ask the Minister of Labour and Social Security when the retirement age for public service workers will be increased from 55 years to 65 years as demanded by many Zambians.

632 Mr Imenda (Lukulu East) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning what stage Zambia has reached towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals in the following areas:

(i) education;
(ii) health;
(iii) clean water and sanitation;
(iv) energy; and
(v) road network.

633 Mr Ntundu (Gwembe) - to ask the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development:

(a) how many mining licences were issued to small-scale miners from January, 2002 to-date; and

(b) how many mining licences were issued to the following during the period above:

  (i) Zambians; and
  (ii) foreigners.

634 Mr Chongo (Mwense) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing when the water reticulation system, which was removed from Chief Lukwesa’s area in Mwense District over five years ago, will be restored.

635 Ms Kapata (Mandevu) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) what the Ministry’s vision for the health sector is; and

(b) what measures the Government has taken to revamp the health sector so that the trend of sending patients for specialised treatment abroad is minimised.

636 Mr Mbewe (Chadiza) - to ask the Minister of Lands when authority to allocate plots will be given back to Chadiza District Council.

637 Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport:

(a) when funds to unblock canals and water ways in Luangwa, Nsumbu and Iteshi Islands will be released; and

(b) when a dredger to open and deepen the blocked canals and water ways in Chilubi District, which were blocked in the 1990s, will be provided.

638 Mr Imenda (Lukulu East) - to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs how many Zambian Missions abroad have proved to be too costly to maintain and unprofitable to the nation.

639 Mr Ntundu (Gwembe) - to ask the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development:

(a) how many prospecting licences were issued from 2002 to-date; and

(b) how many prospecting licences were withdrawn during the period above and for what reasons.
