QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

991 Ms Limata (Luampa) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) when the following will be built at Luampa Hospital in Luampa Parliamentary Constituency:

(i) a children’s ward; and
(ii) a mortuary; and

(b) whether the Ministry has plans to visit the above hospital and, if so, when.

992 Mr Imasiku (Liuwa) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a) whether there are any plans to reconstruct and realign the broken down sewerage system in Mulambwa Limulunga Compound in Mongu, which is an eye sore and a potential health hazard; and

(b) when the sewerage treatment ponds around Lewanika Hospital and Kambule Secondary School in Mongu will be rehabilitated.

993 Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) when the University of Zambia accounts were last audited; and
(b) what measures the Ministry has taken to ensure that the accounts are audited on a regular basis in order to attract donor support.

994 Mr Mwapela (Kalabo Central) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives:

(a) what measures the Government has taken to encourage
co-operative societies involved in farming in Kalabo District to engage in irrigation farming; and

(b) how many of the co-operative societies at (a) above have received irrigation loans from the Government and how much did each one receive.

995 Mr Sichamba (Isoka West) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs when immigration officers will be posted to Mulekatembo Border Post in Isoka West Parliamentary Constituency.

996 Mr Milupi (Luena) - to ask the Vice-President when the Government will rationalise the spellings of some local places and products which have been mispelt since the colonial era, as follows:

(i) Sesheke to Sisheke;   
(ii) Senanga to Sinanga;
(iii) Mongu to Mungu;   
(iv) Lealui to Lyalui;
(v) Mosi-Oa-Tunya to Musi o Tunya;
(vi) Luwingu to Lubingu;
(vii) Mporokoso to Mumpolokoso; and
(viii) Mpika to Mupika.

997 Mr Simama (Kalulushi) - to ask the Vice-President whether the Government has any plans to encourage people living in areas that are prone to floods to shift to dry land.

998 Mr Silavwe (Nakonde) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply when construction of a bridge across the lower Kalungu River in Nakonde Parliamentary Constituency, which was advertised two (2) years ago, will be completed.

999 Mr Singombe (Dundumwezi) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and
Co-operatives:

(a) how many farmers in Dundumwezi Parliamentary Constituency received cattle under the Cattle Restocking Programme from 2001 to 2005; and

(b) how many of the animals at (a) above have since died.

1000 Mr Kambwili (Roan) - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) what the average death rate of teachers per annum is on the Copperbelt; and

(b) how many deceased teachers have been replaced at the following schools from 2004 to date:

(i) Mpatamatu High School; and
(ii) Roan Antelope High School.

1001 Mr Mukanga (Kantanshi) - to ask the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development:

(a) how many miners were employed by ZCCM as of 31st December, 1996; and

(b) how many miners were employed by the following mining companies as of 31st December, 2006:

(i) Mopani Copper Mines Plc;  
(ii) Kansanshi Mining Plc;
(iii) Lumwana Copper Mines Plc;
(iv) Konkola Copper Mines Plc; and
(v) Bwana Mkubwa Mining Ltd.

1002 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply when construction of the Kasama/Luwingu road will be completed.

1003 Mr F R Tembo (Nyimba) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing when funds to construct seven houses for Nyimba District Council, as promised in 2005, will be released.

1004 Mr Chongo (Mwense) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning:

(a) how much revenue was collected from cross-border traders in Mwense District between Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo from 2002 to 2006, year by year; and

(b) whether there was disparity in the volume of trade between the two countries in the period above.
