QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

1050 Mr Katuka (Mwinilunga East) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning:

(a) what the staff establishment for accounting staff in the Ministry is;

(b) how many accounting staff vacancies currently exist in the Ministry; and

(c) what measures the Ministry has taken to fill the vacancies in order to ensure proper accountability of public funds.

1051 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Labour and Social Security when the Government will review the current fragmented labour union structure with a view to reverting to the “one union, one industry” policy.

1052 Ms Limata (Luampa) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) when Luampa Hospital in Luampa Parliamentary Constituency will be rehabilitated; and

(b) when an ambulance will be provided to the above hospital.

1053 Mr Mwangala (Nalolo) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply when the following roads in Mwandi Parliamentary Constituency will be gravelled:

(i) Namaungu Turn off/Machile road; and
(ii) Mangumwe/Mulauli road.

1054 Mr Mukanga (Kantanshi) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development:

(a) what engineering inspections are carried out on Kariba Dam Wall; and

(b) when the last inspection was conducted on the Kariba Dam.

1055 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Education why the Ministry takes too long to transfer teachers from one school to another.

1056 Mr Ntundu (Gwembe) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:

(a) how much money the Government will spend on the maintenance of the Gwembe/Chipepo road during the period of the contract which is currently running;

(b) what the width of the road is;

(c) when was the last time the Government inspected the progress being made on the road; and

(d) whether the Government will extend the contract of the contractor rehabilitating the road.

1057 Mr Imasiku (Liuwa) - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources:

(a) how much development the African Parks Company has brought to the Liuwa National Park since the company took over the management of the Park in terms of the following:

(i) animal population;
(ii) restocking of diminished species;
(iii) number of tourists visiting the Park; and
(iv) revenues accrued from the above; and

(b) what the challenges in achieving the above are.

1058 Mr C Mulenga (Chinsali) - to ask the Vice-President:

(a) how many people were displaced in Chinsali District during the Lenshina Uprising in 1964 and how many have been repatriated to Chinsali; and

(b) what measures the Government has taken to ensure that the repatriated persons are reintegrated into the community by providing them with food, accommodation, water and sanitation.

1059 Mr Mweemba (Magoye) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a) what is the value of Government building structures in each of the following councils:

(i) Lusaka City Council;
(ii) Ndola City Council;
(iii) Kitwe City Council; and
(iv) Livingstone City Council; and

(b) how much money does the Government give to these councils, annually, in the form of grants.

1060 Mr Muyanda (Sinazongwe) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply what punishment the Government will mete out to the contractor known as GM International for the sub-standard repair works of culverts on the economical and strategic Batoka/Maamba road.

1061 Mr Chanda (Kankoyo) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:

(a) how many cyclists and pedestrians were killed by motorists on Zambia’s busy roads from 2002 to 2007; and

(b) when the Government will construct cyclist and pedestrian lanes along side Zambia’s busy roads.

1062 Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Education when incentives, such as mortgages for lecturers at the University of Zambia, the Copperbelt University and colleges, to enable them buy houses, will be introduced.

1063 Mr Mwapela (Kalabo Central) - to ask the Vice-President when the restructuring of provincial and district administrations will be concluded in order to reduce the inertia being experienced at these levels which are currently operating without strategic plans and whose salary scales have not been adjusted.

1064 Mr Singombe (Dundumwezi) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing when uniforms for Chief’s Retainers for Chiefs Chikanta and Siachitema in Kalomo District were last issued.

QUESTIONS FOR WRITTEN ANSWER

W16 Mr Imasiku (Liuwa) - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) how many scholarships were awarded to Zambians to study abroad from 2001 to date, district by district; and

(b) what the ratio of rural recipients compared to those in urban areas is.

W17 Mr Msichili (Kabushi) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a) what are the details of the current indebtedness of all local authorities; and

(b) what measures the Government has taken to ensure that all the outstanding debts at (a) above are paid within a reasonable deadline.
