QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

1111 Mr Imasiku (Liuwa) - to ask the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development:

  (a) when the Spirit of the River Company was given a licence to carry out mineral exploration in Kalabo District;

  (b) what their findings and future prospects are vis-à-vis  the Development of mining in the District.

1112 Mr C Mulenga (Chinsali) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a) how many Zambian freedom fighters from Chinsali District were arrested in the then Salisbury, now Harare, in Zimbabwe prior to Zambia’s independence in 1964; and

(b) what the names of the freedom fighters at (a) above are and what measures the Government has taken to assist those who are still living.

1113 Mr Sikazwe (Chimbamilonga) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development:

(a) what measures the Ministry has taken to alleviate drought and prevent water borne diseases in Mukube Ward, in Chimbamilonga Parliamentary Constituency, which has dry boreholes; and

(b) whether the Ministry will consider carrying out hydrogeological surveys in the above Constituency with a view to constructing canals as a permanent solution.

1114 Mr Muyanda (Sinazongwe) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs why the Government is reluctant to build a border post at  Namafulu in Senior Chief Mweemba’s area in Sinazongwe Parliamentary Constituency.

1115 Mr Imasiku (Liuwa) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) how many health facilities have been constructed in the Western Province from 2001 to 2007;

(b) how many of these facilities have been completed;

(c)    how many of the completed facilities have been opened;

(d)   what difficulties the Ministry is facing in opening the completed facilities; and

(e) what remedial measures have been taken to ensure that the completed facilities are opened.

1116 Mr Mukanga (Kantanshi) - to ask the Minister of Science, Technology and Vocational Training:

(a) how much money was allocated for research to the National Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research from 2001 todate;

(b) what specific research programmes were undertaken in the above period; and

(c) how beneficial were the research programmes to the nation.
 
1117 Mr Misapa (Mporokoso) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs whether the Government has any plans to open police stations with the help of local communities in the following areas:

(i)   Levy area along the Kawambwa-Mporokoso road; and
(ii)   Katutwa area along the Kasama-Mporokoso road.

1118  Ms Limata (Luampa) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives when more agricultural staff will be sent to Kaoma District.

1119 Mr Mwangala (Nalolo) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply when the two kilometre stretch to Muoyo Royal Establishment on the Mongu-Senanga road will be rehabilitated as promised by the Hon. Minister during the Kuomboka Ceremony in April, 2007.

1120 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:
 
 (a) what measures the Ministry has taken to stop the construction of illegal structures in the country; and

(b) how many officers have been arrested so far for selling plots illegally.

1121 Mr Katuka (Mwinilunga East) - to ask the Vice-President whether the Government has any plans to use the national security wings, namely, the Zambia Army, the Zambia Airforce and the Zambia National Service to supplement the civil operations of the Zambia Police Force in view of the escalating crime rate in the country.

1122 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives when Mwenda and Lupososhi Maize Marketing Depots in Chipili Parliamentary Constituency will be rehabilitated.

1123 Mr Misapa (Mporokoso) - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport whether there are any plans to procure a passenger and cargo ship for Lake Tanganyika to service the Mpulungu Harbour and the neighbouring countries such as Burundi, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

1124 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning when the Zambia National Building Society House on Cairo Road in Lusaka will be renovated.

1125 Mr Kambwili (Roan) - to ask the Vice-President when the Government will sell the houses in Chaisa Compound in Roan Parliamentary Constituency to sitting tenants.

QUESTIONS FOR WRITTEN ANSWER

W26 Mr Muteteka (Chisamba) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:

(a) what are the specific roles and duties of each of the following agencies:

(i) Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA);
(ii) National Road Fund Agency (NRFA); and
(iii) Road Development Agency (RDA).

(b) whether it is prudent to have three different agencies with three different boards operating under one sector;

(c) what is the total annual wage bill paid to the agencies in (a) above;
and

(d) whether the Government has any plans to reduce this wage bill and use the resources on other priority areas.

W27 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Labour and Social Security:

(a) how many work stoppages occurred in the public sector from 2005 to 2007, institution by institution;

(b) how many of the work stoppages at (a) above occurred as a result of violation of collective agreements, institution by institution; and

(c) what measures the Government has taken to reduce the occurrence of work stoppage incidents country-wide.

Report of the Public Accounts Committee:  That this House do adopt the Report of the Public Accounts Committee, on Outstanding Issues as contained in the Report of the Auditor-General on the Accounts for the Financial Year ended 31st December, 2004, for the First Session of the Tenth National Assembly, laid on the Table of the House on 26th November, 2007.
