QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER
112 Mr Hamusonde (Nangoma) - to ask the Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communication when the Government will rehabilitate the
Myooye and Nachibila Bridges in Nangoma Parliamentary Constituency.
113 Mr Ng’onga (Kaputa) - to ask the Minister of Health:
(a) what measures the Government has taken to control malaria especially in children and pregnant women in Kaputa District;
(b) whether there are any areas earmarked for indoor residual spraying against mosquitoes and, if so, what the names of the areas are;
(c) what type of chemicals will be used in residual spraying at (b) above; and
(d) when a medical doctor and additional clinical officers will be posted to Kaputa District Hospital.
114 Mr Hamusonde (Nangoma) - to ask the Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs:
(a) whether chiefs in Zambia are allowed to openly support political parties of their choice;
(b) if not, whether there is a penalty for the action at (a) above and, if so, what the penalty is; and
(c) whether there are any chiefs who have been penalised in the past.
115 Mr M B Mwale (Malambo) - to ask the Minister of Information, Broadcasting and Labour:
(a) what caused the industrial unrest at the Luanshya Non-Ferrous Mining Corporation on 9th December, 2011;
(b) how much loss, in the form of production, was incurred as a result of the industrial unrest; and
(c) what measures the Government has taken to prevent similar incidents in future.
116 Mr Mtolo (Chipata Central) - to ask the Vice President:
(a) how many Commissions of Inquiry the Government instituted between 20th September and 30th November, 2011;
(b) how much money was spent on the Commissions above; and
(c) whether the funds at (b) were provided for in the 2011 national budget.
117 Mr Mtolo (Chipata Central) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock whether the Government will explore the possibility of farmers
using the Food Reserve Agency Goods Received Notes for maize delivered to facilitate the collection of inputs where payments are delayed.
118 Mr Njeulu (Sinjembela) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock when the Government will compensate farmers in Sinjembela and
Imusho areas of Shangombo and Sesheke Districts, respectively, whose herds of cattle were compulsorily slaughtered in 1997 and 1998 due to
the outbreak of Contagious Bovine Pleuro Pneumonia (CBPP) disease.
119 Mr Njeulu (Sinjembela) - to ask the Minister of Education, Science and Vocational Training:
(a) when the Government will construct a secondary school in Shangombo District;
(b) whether the Government has any plans of completing the construction of Nangweshi Secondary School; and
(c) whether the Government will repair the roofs of the classroom blocks which were blown off by strong winds at the following schools in
Shangombo District:
(i) Lyamaya;
(ii) Mwanambao; and
(iii) Nalwashi.
120 Mr Kalaba (Bahati) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning:
(a) under what authority the Ministry granted PEPSI Zambia a Value Added Tax (VAT) waiver in 2009;
(b) whether there are any other companies which were granted the VAT waivers in the same year and, if so, what the names of the
companies are; and
(c) what the financial implications of the waivers are.
121 Mr Chungu (Luanshya) - to ask the Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communication:
(a) how many roads were being rehabilitated under the urban road rehabilitation project that was launched prior to the general elections of
2011;
(b) what the total distance in kilometres of the project was;
(c) what the total cost of the project was;
(d) whether tender procedures were followed in awarding the contracts to this project; and
(e) when the project will be completed.
122 Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock why Zambia was rated the least consumer of dairy products in the
Southern Africa region in 2010, yet the country is one of the major producers of the dairy products.
123 Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock in which districts of Northern Province the following programmes
were undertaken in 2010:
(a) livestock grading system;
(b) regulation and quality control of livestock; and
(c) restocking of livestock breeding centres.
124 Mr Chilangwa (Kawambwa) - to ask the Minister of Local Government, Housing, Early Education and Environmental Protection:
(a) what caused the accident at the Bread of Life Church on Lumumba Road in Lusaka in which a congregant was fatally injured and later
died in November, 2011;
(b) whether the Church building had been certified fit for occupation at the time of the accident; and
(c) who the legal owners of the property are.
125 Mr Hamusonde (Nangoma) - to ask the Minister of Health whether asbestos roofing sheets are harmful to human life and if so, how.
126 Mr Miyutu (Kalabo Central) - to ask the Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communication:
(a) how much money was allocated for the rehabilitation of feeder roads in the Western Province in 2010;
(b) what the total number of kilometres was to be covered by the allocation above;
(c) how much was actually released;
(d) how many kilometres of the feeder roads were rehabilitated; and
(e) what type of rehabilitation was undertaken.
127 Mr Miyutu (Kalabo Central) - to ask the Minister of Health:
(a) when the works on the sewerage ponds which have stalled for two years in Kalabo will resume;
(b) how much money has so far been spent on the project;
(c) how much money has so far been paid to the contractor; and
(d) how much money is required to complete the project.
128 Mr M B Mwale (Malambo) - to ask the Minister of Mines and Natural Resources:
(a) what the projected and actual copper and cobalt productions were for 2011; and
(b) whether the targets were met and, if not, what caused the under production.
129 Mr Kampyongo (Shiwang’andu) - to ask the Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communication when the road leading to the
construction site of the hydro-power station in Shiwang’andu Parliamentary Constituency will be rehabilitated and strong bridges constructed to
facilitate the passage of heavy equipment to the site.
130 Mr Chungu (Luanshya) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs whether there are any plans to:
(a) construct, country-wide, more houses for prison warders; and
(b) provide better facilities for prisoners.
131 Mr Ng’onga (Kaputa) - to ask the Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communication:
(a) whether the Government is aware that the construction of the Mukubwe Bridge in Chief Mukupa Katandala’s area has been completed;
(b) if so, when the Government will send its officials to officially open the Bridge to the public; and
(c) when the rehabilitation works on the Nsama-Mununga road, on which the Mukubwe Bridge was constructed, will begin.
