Matero Constituency received a tipper truck on Thursday 16^th Febraury, 2025, worth over K2,5 million procured under Constituency Development Funds (CDF). The truck purposed for garbage collection has come as a response to alleviate the area from poor garbage disposal practices and clogged drainages during the rainy season which pose as a health hazard.

In the same month, heavy rainfall in Lusaka caused severe flooding in Matero, leading to damage to numerous homes and loss of property. The flooding was worsened by blocked drainage systems filled with garbage, leaving many residents in distress. In response, the area Member of Parliament, Honourable Miles Sampa, along with the Lusaka Fire Brigade and the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU), intervened to assist affected residents. They provided food, shelter, and worked to clear the garbage, aiming to restore normalcy in the area.

The Ward Development Committee (WDC) working alongside DMMU supplied and provided victims with temporary shelter and 50kg bags of relief maize per family. In total, 218 affected residents from Mwembeshi Ward benefitted from the relief measures.
