Minister of Agriculture – On the 2024/2025 farming season.
6. QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER (STANDING ORDER 80)
53 Mr Mulunda (Siavonga) - to ask the Minister of Education:
(a) whether the Government has any plans to upgrade the following day secondary schools in Siavonga District to boarding secondary schools:
- Matuwa;
- Chaanga; and
- Sianyoolo;
(b) if so, when the plans will be implemented; and
(c) if there are no such plans, why.
54 Ms Katuta (Chienge) - to ask the Minister of Health:
(a) how many psychiatric hospitals there were, countrywide, as of April, 2024;
(b)what the total number of the following medical personnel, deployed to the hospitals above was, as of the same date:
- psychiatric doctors; and
- psychiatric nurses; and
(c) what measures the Government is taking to ensure that psychiatric medicines are made available in all health facilities, countrywide.
55 Mr Mwambazi (Bwana Mkubwa) - to ask the Minister of Fisheries and Livestock:
(a) whether the Government has any plans to conduct a countrywide animal restocking exercise, following the loss of animals during the anthrax outbreak that occurred in November, 2023;
(b) if so, when the plans will be implemented;
(c) what the estimated cost of the exercise is; and
(d) what breed of animals will be availed for restocking.
56 Mr Kasandwe (Bangweulu) - to ask the Minister of Labour and Social Security:
(a) why construction of the Samfya International Convention Centre in Samfya District has stalled;
(b) at what level of completion, in percentage terms, the project was, as of April, 2024;
(c) when the construction works will resume;
(d) what the cost of the project is;
(e) who the contractor for the project is; and
(f) how many jobs will be created once the Centre is operationalised.
57 Mr Kolala (Lufubu) - to ask the Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry what measures the Government is taking to facilitate the reduction of prices of the following essential commodities:
(a) mealie-meal;
(b) cooking oil;
(c) sugar; and
(d) fuel.
