Suspend Standing Orders: That Standing Orders 24(1), 27 and 123 of the National Assembly of Zambia Standing Orders, 2024, be suspended to enable the House to sit at 09:00 hours until Business on the Order Paper for each day is completed, from Wednesday, 31st July to Friday, 2nd August, 2024, and also to consider more than one stage of a Bill at a single Sitting.

The Health Professions – Bill to continue the existence of the Health Professions Council of Zambia and re-define its functions; re-constitute the Board of the Health Professions Council of Zambia and re-define its functions; regulate health professionals, health facilities and health care services and internship sites; provide for the administration of licensure examinations; approve curriculum for health learning programmes for purposes of accreditation by the Higher Education Authority; provide for the approval of internship sites for health practitioners; repeal and replace the Health Professions Act, 2009; and provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing. The National Health Research and Training Institute - Bill to continue the existence of the Tropical Diseases Research Centre and re-name it as the National Health Research and Training Institute and re-define its functions; provide for health research and training; provide for the establishment of the National Health Research Laboratory; provide for research in indigenous knowledge, traditional and complementary alternative medicines; repeal and replace the Tropical Diseases Research Centre Act, Cap. 301; and provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing. (a) whether the Government has banned the Mukanda traditional practice which is mainly practiced in North-Western Province; and
(b) if so, why the practice has been banned despite its cultural and health benefits.
