SUNCOL EYES ZAMBIA ON FUTURISTIC SOLAR INVESTMENT

SUNCOL Chief Executive Officer, Mr Gazmend Luzi said Zambia has a favourable climate for renewable energy exploitation with potential for a futuristic Green Energy solar investment.  He added that investments in solar energy could ameliorate some of the energy challenges that the country is facing and reduce overreliance on hydropower.

And First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Honourable Malungo A Chisangano, MP said the National Assembly attaches great importance to the energy sector, particularly, renewable energy, due its many benefits.  She also highlighted the need for an enabling legal and policy framework that promotes investments in the renewable energy sector.

She further indicated that the National Assembly of Zambia established the Committees on Energy, Water Development and Tourism to not only provide oversight on the Executive, but also make recommendations to ensure that the energy, water and tourism sectors thrive.

Honourable Chisangano further stated that as a way to demonstrate its efforts to adopt alternative sources of energy, the National Assembly of Zambia has installed solar panels on top of the Library Building.  She hoped that the renewable energy technology by SUNCOL will also benefit rural communities.
