JEAN KHOJI NGUVULU, NEW CHAIRPERSON OF SADC-PF COMMITTEE OF CLERKS/SECRETARIES GENERAL

The SADC Parliamentary Forum Committee of Clerks/Secretaries General of Parliaments has appointed the Secretary General of the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mr Jean Khoji Nguvulu as its new Chairperson.  

Mr Nguvulu was appointed at the just ended Committee of Clerks/Secretaries General of Parliament meeting held on 23rd and 24th November, 2022 at the Hilton Sandston Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa.  At the same meeting, the Clerk of the National Assembly of Tanzania, Ms Nelwa Mwaihambi was appointed Vice Chairperson.
The duo took over from the Clerk of the National Assembly of Botswana, Ms Barbara Dithapo and the Acting Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia, Mr Roy Ngulube who served as Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, respectively.

The meeting was attended by Clerk/Secretaries General of Parliaments from Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Namibia, Madagascar, Mauritius, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. 

The Committee of Clerks/Secretaries General of the SADC-PF is a valuable organ of administrative support and advice established under Article 10(1)(f) of the SADC-PF Constitution which unites all the Clerks and Secretaries General of SADC Member Parliaments. Under Article 16A(4)(a) of the SADC-PF Constitution, the Committee has a unique mandate to provide advice to the Executive Committee on matters submitted to it by the Secretariat pursuant to the instructions of the Executive Committee or the Plenary Assembly.
