MOTIONS

ADJOURNMENT OF THE HOUSE

The Vice-President (Dr Scott): Mr Speaker, I beg to move that the House do adjourn early today to enable hon. Members to attend the State Funeral of the late Zambia’s first former First Lady, Mrs Betty Kaunda.

Mr Speaker, as the House is aware, Mrs Betty Kaunda passed on on Thursday, 20th September, 2012, in Harare, Zimbabwe and is scheduled to be buried today, Friday, 28th September, 2012, at her former residence near State Lodge, in Lusaka.

The State Funeral will be preceded by a memorial church service which will take place at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, starting at 1000 hours. In this regard, therefore, and in order to afford all hon. Members an opportunity to attend both the church service and the State Funeral of the late Mrs Kaunda, the House should adjourn now.

Sir, this is a straightforward and extremely uncontroversial Motion. I, therefore, urge all hon. Members of this august House to support it.

Mr Speaker, I beg to move.

Sir, I commend the House for its silent support to this very obvious Motion.

I thank you, Sir.
Question put and agreed to.
