QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

451 Mr Mukanga (Kantanshi) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:

(a) how many tarred roads were rehabilitated on the Copperbelt in 2006 and 2007, district by district; and

(b) how much was spent on the rehabilitation of each of the roads above.

452 Mr Ntundu (Gwembe) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) what the membership of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board is; and

(b) what the conditions of service for the Board members are.

453 Mr Ntundu (Gwembe) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a) when Lusaka City Council reclaimed the 300 meters of land on both sides of the Kafue road between Kafue roundabout and Chawama turn off for the development of commercial activities;

(b) who the beneficiaries of the reclaimed land are;

(c) how much was raised from the sale of the reclaimed land and how the money was utilised by the Council; and

(d) how many title deeds have so far been issued to the beneficiaries  of the land at (a) above.

454 Mr Imenda (Lukulu East) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives what progress the Government has made with regard to the cattle restocking exercise since 2001, province by province.

455 Mr Imenda (Lukulu East) - to ask the Minister of Education when construction of the proposed Lukulu Boarding High School will commence.

456 Major Chibamba (Shiwang’andu) - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) when staff houses at the following basic schools in Shiwang’andu Parliamentary Constituency were last rehabilitated:

(i) Mukwikile;
(ii) Kalikiti;
(iii) Mwika;
(iv) Kalonga;
(v) Mutitima;
(vi) Kantimba; and
(vii) Lwanya; and

(b) whether the Ministry has any plans to alleviate the plight of the teachers at the schools at (a) above and, if so, what plans are these.

457 Mr Mukanga (Kantanshi) - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources:

(a) when the last forest inventory for the country was undertaken;

(b) when the last forest management programme was done; and

(c) whether adequate transport is provided for regular forest inspections country-wide.

458 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Labour and Social Security:

(a) what measures the Government has taken to ensure that the conditions of service for full time trade union leaders in the following unions are monitored:

 (i) Zambia National Union of Teachers;
 (ii) Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union of Zambia;
 (iii) Zambia Revenue Authority Workers Union;
 (iv) Public Service Workers Union of Zambia; and
 (v) National Energy Sector and Allied Workers Union;

(b) what criteria were used by the unions above to come up with the current conditions of service; and

(c) whether the monthly incomes of the union leaders correspond with their monthly expenditure and, if not, what measures the Government has taken to normalise the situation.

459 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a) when the Government will improve the conditions of service for investigation officers at the Drug  Enforcement Commission (DEC);

(b) how many senior officers at DEC have reached statutory retirement age and are serving on contract; and

(c) when the Government will discontinue this arrangement in order to allow young officers ascend in the institutional hierarchy.

460 Mr Ntundu (Gwembe) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning:

(a) how much money the National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) has paid out in retirement claims from January, 2002 to-date;

(b) how much money has not been paid to the members who reached the retirement age in the period above;

(c) who the bankers of NAPSA are; and

(d) how much interest NAPSA has earned from the money it has in commercial banks from January, 2002 to-date.

QUESTIONS FOR WRITTEN ANSWER

W25 Mr Imenda (Lukulu East) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning:

(a) what the top ten non-traditional export earners were in the last five years and which sectors of the economy they are from;

(b) how much each sector at (a) above earned in US dollars;

(c) what incentives the Government has offered to boost the non-traditional export earnings; and

(d) what the total contribution of the non-traditional earnings to the Gross National Product was in US dollars in the last five years.

W26 Mr Kasongo (Bangweulu) - to ask the Minister of Labour and Social Security:

(a) how many industrial accidents occurred in Zambia in the following sectors from 1964 to date:

(i) mining;
(ii) manufacturing;
(iii) construction; and
(iv) transport;

(b) what the causes of the accidents at (a) above were;

(c) how many of the victims at (a) above have been compensated; and

(d) what action the Government has taken on the management of the industries above in order to prevent similar industrial accidents.

W27 Mr Kasongo (Bangweulu) - to ask the Minister of Education how many
primary and basic schools have been built in each district from 1991 to date.

W28 Mr Kasongo (Bangweulu) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) how many clinics the Government has built since 2001, district by district;

(b) how much money has been spent in the construction of the clinics above; and

(c) which clinics above include maternity wards and mothers’ shelters.

W29 Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Science, Technology and Vocational Training:

(a) how many students graduated from the following institutions from inception to-date, year by year:

(i) Zambia Institute of Technology;
(ii) Northern Technical College;
(iii) Lukashya Trades Training Institute;
(iv) Solwezi Trades Training Institute;
(v) Livingstone Trades Training Institute; and
(vi) Mansa Trades Training Institute; and

(b) how much money the Government disbursed to each of the institutions above from 2002 to 2007.

W30 Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs:

(a) how many Zambians were deported from other countries between 1992 and 2007;
(b) which year recorded the highest number of deportees; and

(c) how many were deported on the basis of the following offences during the above period:

(i) political;
(ii) criminal;
(iii) illegal immigration; and
(iv) drug trafficking.
