QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

488    Mr Lubinda (Kabwata) - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources:

(a)    how many statues of more than half a metre high existed in public places as of 31st December, 2010, country-wide;

(b)    of the total statues, how many were of political leaders;

(c)    how many statues at (b) were paid for by the State; and

(d)    how many statues were in the following places:

(i)     Chipata;
(ii)     Lusaka;
(iii)    Livingstone;
(iv)   Kitwe; and
(v)    Ndola.

489    Mr Hamusonde (Nangoma) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing why the Government has failed to rid street and shop corridors of vendors and confine them to designated trading places, country-wide.

490    Mr Ntundu (Gwembe) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a)    how many dialysis machines were procured country-wide as of December, 2010;

(b)    how many dialysis machines are operational; and

(c)    how much money was spent on procuring the dialysis machines at the University Teaching Hospital.

491    Mr C Mulenga (Chinsali) - to ask the Minister of Energy and Water Development:

(a)    when the following places in Chinsali District will be electrified under the Rural Electrification Programme:

(i)     Chief Mubanga’s Palace;
(ii)    Chief Nkweto’s Palace;
(iii)    Mundu Rural Health Centre;
(iv)   Chunga Rural Health Centre; and
(v)    Mbesuma Ranch; and

(b)    what the total cost of electrifying these places is.

492    Mr Mwenya (Nkana) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a)    how many individuals were arrested for money laundering activities from 2006 to 2010, year by year;

(b)    of the total number arrested, how many  were politicians; and

(c)    how many convictions were secured in the same period.

493    Mr Simama (Kalulushi) - to ask the Minister of Science, Technology and Vocational Training what the role of the Ministry in mitigating the effects of climate change is.

494    Mr Mukanga (Kantanshi) - to ask the Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Development:

(a)    when the last national fish inventory was conducted;

(b)    whether there was any increase in the number of fish during the last fish ban between December, 2010 and March, 2011 and, if so, by what percentage point;

(c)   what the total number of fish species in Zambia currently is; and

(d)   what measures the Government has taken to ensure that the endangered fish species are protected from extinction.

495  Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a)    how many road traffic accidents occurred from January, 2009 to March, 2011, on the following highways:

(i)     Kapiri-Mposhi/Lusaka;
(ii)    Kapiri-Mposhi/Ndola; and
(iii)   Lusaka/Livingstone; and

(b)    how many people died in the accidents at (a) above.

496   Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Education which areas in Chipili Parliamentary Constituency have been identified for construction of basic schools in 2011.

497    Col G Chanda (Kanyama) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a)    when the construction of the ring roads around the city of Lusaka will commence; and

(b)    what has caused the delay in commencing the project.

QUESTIONS FOR WRITTEN ANSWER

W24    Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a)    how many criminal offences in the following categories were committed to the High Court from 2008 to 2009:

(i)    murder;
(ii)   attempted murder; and
(iii)  aggravated robbery;

(b)    how many cases of unlawful assembly were tried in the High Court in the same period; and

(c)    which province recorded the highest number of murder cases.

W25    Mr Lubinda (Kabwata) - to ask the Minister of Lands:

(a)    which plots were recommended by the Lusaka City Council (LCC) for the construction of markets in the following townships:

(i)    Hillview Park;
(ii)    Kamwala South; and
(iii)    Libala South;

(b)    what the current status of the plots in each of the above townships is;

(c)    whether the LCC ever recommended the allocation of stands in the markets and, if so, under which Council minutes the recommendations were made and to which applicants;

(d)    whether the LCC did approve building plans for the construction of markets currently going on in Hillview Park; and

(e)    how much money the LCC collected in respect of the application fees for the plots and how the money was accounted for.

W26    Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a)    what the staffing levels in the Northern Division of the Zambia Police Force were from December 2008 to December 2009;

(b)    whether the levels were adequate; and

(c)    how many promotions were made during the period at (a) above in Northern, Lusaka and Luapula Provinces to the following positions:

(i)    Sergeant;
(ii)   Sub-Inspector;
(iii)   Inspector;
(iv)  Chief Inspector;
(v)  Assistant Superintendent;
(vi)  Superintendent;
(vii) Senior Superintendent;
(viii) Chief Superintendent;
(ix) Assistant Commissioner; and
(x)  Senior Assistant Commissioner.
