QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

550    Mr Lumba (Solwezi Central) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives:

(a)    when Kainamfumu Resettlement Scheme in Solwezi District will be provided with an Agricultural Extension Officer; and

(b)    when the Kainamfumu community will start benefiting from the Farmer Input Support Programme.

551    Mr Lumba (Solwezi Central) - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport:

(a)    when the runway at Solwezi Airport will be extended;

(b)    whether any families will be affected by the extension and, if so, how many; and

(c)    whether the affected families will be compensated and, if so, how.

552    Mr Kamondo (Mufumbwe) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a)    when the Government will construct houses for police officers at Mufumbwe Boma;

(b)    when more police officers will be sent to Mufumbwe; and

(c)    when police posts will be established at Kalengwa and Mushima in Mufumbwe Parliamentary Constituency.

553    Mr Mwango (Kanchibiya) - to ask the Vice President and Minister of Justice:

(a)    which companies were engaged by the Electoral Commission of Zambia to print ballot papers for:

(i)      the 2006 general elections; and
(ii)     the 2008 Presidential by-election;

(b)    how much money was spent on printing the ballot papers for  the elections above; and

(c)    how much in total was spent on conducting the elections.

554    Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Health why the K300 million given by the Irish Aid between 2008 and 2009 meant for construction of doctors’ houses in Chilubi has not yet been released by the Northern Province administration.

555    Mr Simuusa (Nchanga) - to ask the Minister of Labour and Social Security:

(a)    when the review of the benefits payable to the pensioners under the Workers Compensation Fund will be completed; and

(b)    what the lowest and highest payable amounts will be on completion of the review exercise.

556    Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Vice President and Minister of Justice how much money was spent on the orientation workshops for District Commissioners in the Northern Province in 2010.

557    Mr Lumba (Solwezi Central) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a)    when police road blocks or check points will be modernised; and

(b)    why the traffic police do not give adequate speed limit signage when they set up speed traps, especially on the highways.

558    Mr Lumba (Solwezi Central) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a)    when the Government will construct staff houses at Mapopo Health Centre in Solwezi;

(b)    when the Centre will be opened to the public to start offering health services; and

(c)    when the Government will build a health centre at Kainamfumu Resettlement Scheme in Solwezi District.

559    Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Vice President and Minister of Justice:

(a)    why the Government established the Salaries Review Commission; and

(b)    when the Commission will conclude its work and submit a report to the Government.

560    Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning:

(a)    how much money, in the form of pension, was owed to former Zamtel employees by the Zambia State Insurance Corporation Limited (ZSIC) as of December, 2010;

(b)    how many former employees were affected by the non-payment of their pension by ZSIC; and

(c)    when the former Zamtel employees will be paid their dues.

561   Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources:

(a)    what the future business plan for Ntumbachushi Falls in Luapula Province is;

(b)    why the Falls had in the past been neglected by the Government; and

(c)    what the cost of recapitalising the Falls to make them attractive for tourism is.

(e)    what the response to the appeals by the Lusaka City Council and Lusaka residents in November, 2010, over the repossession of the above parcels of land was.

W37    Mr Simama (Kalulushi) - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources what adaptation and mitigation programmes have been taken to fight the adverse effects of climate change in Zambia.

W38    Mr Mukanga (Kantanshi) - to ask the Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Development what the cattle population in the Copperbelt Province was as of 31st March, 2011, district by district.

W39    Mr Mukanga (Kantanshi) - to ask the Minister of Education what the total number of qualified high school physics teachers in the country was as of December, 2010, Province by Province.

W40    Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs:
    
(a)    whether the Zambian Government was adequately represented at the United Nations General Assembly which commenced in September, 2010;

(b)    what the theme of the meeting was and whether the resolutions were implemented by the member states; and

(c)    how many African countries are likely to meet the Millennium Development Goals in the education and health sectors.

W41    Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs:

(a)    why Morocco has continued to colonise Western Sahara;

(b)    what Zambia’s position on the matter is; and

(c)    what the positions of the African Union and the United Nations are on the colonisation of:

(i)    Western Sahara; and
(ii)    Mayotte.

Death of the Second President, Dr Frederick Jacob Titus Chiluba:  That this House do place on record its profound regret at the death of Dr Frederick Jacob Titus Chiluba, Second President of the Republic of Zambia, together with its appreciation of his distinguished and patriotic service to this country and the people of Zambia, and that the deepest sympathies and condolences of the National Assembly be conveyed to his family.
