QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

1035 Mr Ntundu (Gwembe) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:

(a) how much revenue is raised by ESCO on a daily average for ferrying trucks and cars at Kazungula;

(b) how the revenue realised is utilised; and

(c) whether the pontoon at Kazungula makes a profit or not.

1036 Mr C Mulenga (Chinsali) - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport what measures the Government has taken to ensure that long distance bus operators leave their passengers at main bus stations and not by the road side as the case is currently.

1037 Mr Hamusonde (Nangoma) - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) when the following schools in Nangoma Parliamentary Constituency, which are in a dilapidated state, will be rehabilitated:

(i) Nalubamba Primary School; and
(ii) Chiwena School; and

(b) when teachers’ houses at Chiwena School will be renovated.

1038 Mr Muyanda (Sinazongwe) - to ask the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services why the “Inside Parliament” programme is broadcast on ZNBC television between 22:00 hours and 23:00 hours when most viewers and listeners are asleep.

1039 Mr Chanda (Kankoyo) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply:

(a) when work on the Lusaka/Kabwe road will be completed;

(b) how much has so far been spent on the on-going repairs of the road above; and

(c) who the contractor working on the above road is.

1040 Ms Limata (Luampa) - to ask the Minister of Gender and Women in Development when the Ministry will undertake inspection visits to projects run by women clubs in the Western Province.

1041 Mr Malama (Mfuwe) - to ask the Minister of Justice when local courts will be built in the following areas of Mfuwe Parliamentary Constituency:

(i) Chief Nabwalya’s area;
(ii) Chief Mpumba’s area; and
(iii) Chief Mukungule’s area.

1042 Mr Imasiku (Liuwa) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) what the current status of the following projects being funded by DANIDA in the Western Province is:

(i) Shangombo District Hospital;
(ii) Keyana Health Centre in Shangombo;
(iii) Luiwanyau Health Post in Senanga; and
(iv) Mutondo Health Centre in Kaoma;

(b) when construction of the projects at (a) above commenced;

(c) who the contractors are;

(d) what the reasons for the delay in completing the projects are; and

(e) what action has been taken against the contractors for delaying completion of the projects.

1043 Mr Chisala (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives whether the Ministry has any plans to review the fish ban which is annually imposed from 1st December to 28th February in order to accommodate areas such as Lake Bangweulu where the fish breeding period starts in August.

1044 Mr Kambwili (Roan) - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) whether the education system in Zambia has improved or deteriorated since 1976; and

(b) if so, what are the improvements.

1045 Mr Mukanga (Kantanshi) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a) what existing policies and legislation compel local authorities in the country to care for and maintain the following:

(i) garden parks; and
(ii) cemeteries;

(b) what action the Ministry has taken against local authorities which have failed to care for and maintain the amenities at (a) above; and

(c) whether there are traceable records in existence which Zambians can use to locate the graves of their heroes and beloved ones.

1046 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Community Development and Social Services whether the Government has plans to distribute hammer mills to women clubs throughout the country.

1047 Mr Simama (Kalulushi) - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources:

(a) whether there are any botanical gardens being maintained by the Forestry Department and, if so, which botanical gardens are these, name by name; and
(b) whether the Ministry maintains these gardens and, if so, how much is spent annually.

1048 Mr Chongo (Mwense) - to ask the Minister of Education when the Ministry will construct teachers’ houses at Mubende Basic School in Mwense Parliamentary Constituency.

1049 Mr Katuka (Mwinilunga East) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) when Kakoma Rural Health Centre in Mwinilunga East Parliamentary Constituency will be provided with the following:

(i) qualified medical personnel; and
(ii) solar system; and

(b) when the Health Centre will be rehabilitated.

Report of the Committee on Sport, Youth and Child Affairs:  That this House do adopt the Report of the Committee on Sport, Youth and Child Affairs, for the First Session of the Tenth National Assembly, laid on the Table of the House on 8th November, 2007.
