QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

1080 Mr Nkombo (Mazabuka) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives:

(a) whether the Government is aware that the National Housing Authority (NHA) has given the 137 former employees of Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia Ltd (NCZ) up to 1st December, 2007 to pay in full for the houses they currently occupy, which were offered to them for sale as sitting tenants, failure to which the houses in question will be repossessed thus compromising the former employees’ right to shelter which is a fundamental human right; and

(b) if the Government is aware, what measures have been taken to ensure that the terminal benefits of the former NCZ employees are paid to them expeditiously to enable them meet their obligation with the NHA before the 1st December, 2007 deadline.

1081 Mr Imasiku (Liuwa) - to ask the Minister of Communications and Transport:

(a) how many canals were cleared in Liuwa Parliamentary Constituency from 2001 to 2007, year by year;

(b) when the Ministry will construct a canal between Mushukula School and Tuwe area which has been pending for a long time now; and

(c) whether there any plans to clear the blocked part of the Luanginga River between Lutendela area and Kalabo Boma since the blockage was caused by the diversion of water from the same river into Makoma Canal by the Ministry.

1082 Mr C Mulenga (Chinsali) - to ask the Minister of Defence:

(a) when was the last time the Government rehabilitated houses for junior officers in all the Zambia Army barracks; and

(b) when the Government will attend to the water and electricity problems at Arakan Barracks.

1083 Mr Chota (Lubansenshi) - to ask the Minister of Finance and National Planning:

(a) what mechanism was used to share the assets of the following companies which were jointly owned by Zambia and Zimbabwe under the Central African Federation:

(i) Central African Airways;
(ii) Central African Railways; and
(iii) Central African Road Services; and
 
 (b) what was the value of the shared assets above and how much did each country receive.

1084 Mr Simama (Kalulushi) - to ask the Minister of Education what the teacher/pupil ratio is for the schools in Kalulushi Parliamentary Constituency.

1085 Mr Muyanda (Sinazongwe) - to ask the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services when ZNBC will start beaming live Parliamentary debates.

1086 Dr Chishimba (Kasama Central) - to ask the Minister of Defence whether the Government has any plans to construct more barracks for the Zambia Army, the Zambia Airforce and the Zambia National Service.

1087 Mr Mukanga (Kantanshi) - to ask the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development:

(a) what engineering inspections are carried out on the cooling towers which are situated on the mines on the Copperbelt; and

(b) when the last inspection was conducted on these cooling towers.

1088 Ms Limata (Luampa) - to ask the Minister of Sport, Youth and Child Development:

(a) whether the Ministry has any plans to visit schools in the Western Province as a way of encouraging sporting activities in the province; and

(b) when will the Ministry start identifying footballers and other players from the Western Province for national assignments.

1089 Mr Mweemba (Magoye) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:
 
(a) whether there are any plans to build a police station in Magoye Parliamentary Constituency; and

(b) when a police post will be built at Chivuna in Magoye Parliamentary Constituency.

1090 Mr Kambwili (Roan) - to ask the Minister of Health:
 
(a) how many successful heart transplants the University Teaching Hospital has undertaken from inception to-date; and

(b) how many cancer patients died from 2001 to 2006 at the hospital.

1091 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry whether there are plans to revive the Mununshi Banana Scheme in Kawambwa District.

1092 Mr Katuka (Mwinilunga East) - to ask the Minister of Works and Supply when the following bridges in Mwinilunga East Parliamentary Constituency will be repaired:

(i) Mujila bridge on the Kanyama road; and
(ii) Kabompo bridge on the Chisasa/Ntambu road.

1093 Ms Limata (Luampa) - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs when the number of police officers at all the police stations and posts in Luampa Parliamentary Constituency will be increased.

1094 Mr Mwangala (Nalolo) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing how many boreholes have been rehabilitated and sunk in the following Wards in Nalolo Parliamentary Constituency:

(i) Kambai Ward;   
(ii) Makoka Ward;
(iii) Shekela Ward;
(iv) Lyamakumba Ward;
(v) Silowana Ward;
(vi) Nanjuca Ward;
(vii) Muoyo Ward; and
(viii) Kataba Ward.

1095 Mr Ntundu (Gwembe) - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) how many doctors are at the UTH cancer clinic;

(b) how many of the doctors above are expatriates; and

(c) whether the Government has sent any personnel for specialist training in order to ensure that the clinic is manned by qualified local personnel and, if so, how many.

QUESTIONS FOR WRITTEN ANSWER

W20 Mr Mwangala (Nalolo) - to ask the Minister of Community Development and Social Services how many women clubs in Nalolo Parliamentary Constituency benefited from Government grants from 2004 to 2006, name by name.

W21 Mr D Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Labour and Social Security:
 
(a) what the minimum wage is in Zambia; and

(b) how many companies in Zambia pay their workers below the minimum wage, company by company.
