President Hakainde Hichilema has sworn in Mrs Loveness Mayaka as Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia.
Her swearing-in follows her appointment and subsequent ratification by the National Assembly pursuant to section 3 (1) of the National Assembly Staff Act, Chapter 257 of the Laws of Zambia.
Speaking during the ceremony held today at State House, President Hichilema said the appointment of Mrs Mayaka is critical to the smooth operation of the Legislature.
President Hichilema urged the Clerk to ensure that laws are properly drafted and structured to enhance effective governance and service delivery.
“We expect efficiency, integrity and accountability in the discharge of her duties,” he said.
And the President has since called on all Arms of Government to align themselves with Government’s agenda of turning around the economy.
He said national progress requires collective effort and coordination across public institutions.
President Hichilema said that the Executive remains mindful of the challenges facing other Arms of Government as the country works towards economic recovery and national development.
President Hakainde Hichilema also swore in 40 judges to the Supreme Court, Constitutional Court, Court of Appeal and High Court.
