LOVENESS MAAMBO MAYAKA RATIFIED AS CLERK OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
The National Assembly has ratified the Presidential appointment of Mrs. Loveness Maambo Mayaka as Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia.
The Parliamentary Select Committee which was appointed to scrutinize the Presidential appointment of Mrs. Mayaka to serve as Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia presented its Report to the National Assembly, which then ratified her appointment.
Presenting the Report of the Parliamentary Select Committee to the National Assembly, Member of Parliament for Siavonga Constituency, Mr. Darius Mulunda said Mrs. Mayaka has vast experience and the requisite qualifications.
Seconding the motion, Member of Parliament for Kasama Central, Ms. Sibongile Mwamba, affirmed that Ms. Mayaka was well qualified to serve as Clerk of the National Assembly.
Mrs. Mayaka is an experienced parliamentary professional of over 20 years having joined the institution in 2005. Her appointment to this vital role, which serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Procedural Adviser, is a testament to her exceptional knowledge, skill, and experience in parliamentary procedure.
She has served in various senior positions within the institution. She served as Principal Clerk for Research from 2015 to 2022, where she contributed to parliamentary research, policy analysis and institutional development.
She later served as Deputy Clerk (Administration) from 2022 to 2025 overseeing administrative operations and supporting the effective functioning of the National Assembly.
Prior to her ratification as Clerk of the National Assembly, Mrs. Mayaka served as Acting Clerk of the National Assembly from April 2025.
