RULES GOVERNING THE CONDUCT OF VISITORS TO THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
A. GENERAL RULES
1. Access and Security
Visitors shall present valid identification and undergo mandatory security screening before entering the precincts of the National Assembly.
2. Dress Code
Visitors are required to be smartly dressed i.e. formal attire and school uniform. The wearing of political party regalia, revealing attire (such as miniskirts, ripped jeans, shorts, tight fitting clothes)
or clothing deemed inappropriate for an official institution is strictly prohibited.
3. Conduct
Visitors shall conduct themselves in a respectful and orderly manner at all times.
4. Disorderly Conduct
Any disorderly, disruptive, or abusive behaviour is prohibited.
5. Loitering
Loitering on Parliament grounds is prohibited. All visitors must adhere to the instructions and guidance of authorised officers at all times.
B. RULES GOVERNING ACCESS TO THE CHAMBER
1. Prohibited Items
a) No bags and gadgets are allowed in the Chamber i.e. phones, cameras and recording devices.
b) Visitors are strictly prohibited from bringing, possessing or using any offensive weapon within the precincts of the National Assembly. Offensive weapons include but not limited to firearm, knife, spear, arrow, stones, axe, axe handle, stick and similar articles.
Any visitor found in possession of a prohibited item shall be denied entry or removed from the premises and the matter maybe referred to law enforcement agencies.
2. Food and Beverages
The bringing of food and beverages into the Chamber is prohibited.
3. Decorum/Public Gallery Etiquette
Absolute silence must be maintained. Visitors cannot clap, cheer, jeer, laugh or converse loudly or make any form of disturbance.
4. Movement Within the Chamber
Visitors may only enter or exit the Chamber when so instructed by an authorised officer. Visitors shall only stand or move in the gallery, when so instructed by an authorized officer.
C. CONSEQUENCES OF NON-COMPLIANCE WITH RULES
The National Assembly reserves the right to deny entry to, or remove, any visitor who fails to comply with these Rules
