NATIONAL ASSEMBLY SIGNS MoU WITH WORLD VISION ZAMBIA, AIMED AT ENHANCING SERVICE DELIVERY

The National Assembly has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with World Vision Zambia, aimed at strengthening collaboration and enhancing service delivery, particularly in areas affecting vulnerable communities. The MoU was signed today, Monday, 21st July, 2025, at Parliament Buildings.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Acting Clerk of the National Assembly, Mrs. Loveness Mayaka, said the MoU provides a solid framework for cooperation between the two institutions, reflecting their shared commitment to the goals outlined in the National Assembly’s Strategic Plan (2022–2026).

Mrs. Mayaka explained that the collaboration would strengthen parliamentary budget oversight. She noted that, with mutual dedication to sectors such as child protection, water, sanitation, and humanitarian support, World Vision Zambia will be able to assist relevant parliamentary committees by providing expert input and data during scrutiny of the national budget.

“This partnership will ensure that Members of Parliament (MPs) are well informed and responsive to the needs of their constituents, while also giving World Vision structured access to lawmakers to strengthen its advocacy initiatives,” she said.

Meanwhile, Associate Director for Operations at World Vision Zambia, Ms. Betty Mbewe Mwando, described the MoU as a strategic step toward connecting policy, implementation, and community action to ensure that every Zambian child thrives. She emphasised that the agreement will help ensure that child-focused policies are not only enacted, but also adequately funded, effectively monitored, and fully implemented.

Speaking earlier, the Director for Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO), Mr. Misael Kateshi, said the strengthened relationship is expected to enhance World Vision Zambia’s work by creating more opportunities for collaboration with MPs, particularly through committees and caucuses focused on children, health, and education. He added that the partnership would also facilitate engagement with key parliamentary departments and staff, as well as with Constituency Offices across all 156 constituencies.
