First Deputy Speaker Chisangano Leads NAZ Staff in Women’s Day Celebration

First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Honourable Malungo Chisangano, MP, led staff from the National Assembly in commemorating International Women’s Day at the Show Grounds in Lusaka on Saturday, 8th March 2025.

Honourable Chisangano said that the National Assembly remains committed to championing gender-responsive policies and legislative reforms that promote women's rights and participation in governance.

She echoed Speaker Nelly Mutti’s call for the Government, civil society organizations and the private sector to collaborate in establishing a quota system to increase women’s representation in Parliament and ensure equal opportunities in leadership and decision-making.

The annual event brought together various institutions, organizations and Government representatives, to celebrate women’s achievements while promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.

This year’s commemoration, themed “For all Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment,” advocated for greater inclusivity of women in decision-making across all sectors.
