The Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Honourable Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti, SC, MP, FAPRA and Algeria’s Ambassador to Zambia, Mr. Tewfik Mahi have expressed commitment to strengthen relations of the two countries through Parliamentary diplomacy.
Speaking when the new Algerian Ambassador to Zambia paid a courtesy call on her office on 7th October 2024, Speaker Mutti acknowledged the cordial relations between Zambia and Algeria.
Speaker Mutti expressed gratitude to the government of Algeria for their continued support in the education sector through the Algerian Scholarship Programme which she said has enabled building of capacities of many Zambian students.
Speaker Mutti said that the formation of the Zambia- Algerian friendship group following her visit to Algeria last year was a progressive step in cementing the Parliamentary relations between the two countries.
And Algerian Ambassador to Zambia, Mr. Mahi described the relations between the two countries as excellent and expressed the need to deepen the bilateral relations in order to seize more mutually beneficial opportunities.
Ambassador Mahi also expressed his country’s commitment towards preserving peace and stability in Africa.
Ambassador Mahi who highlighted the need for economic corporation in various sectors, announced plans to hold a business and investment forum in Lusaka in 2025.
