Speaker of the National Assembly, The Rt Hon Ms. Nelly B K Mutti, MP has reaffirmed the planting of trees in mitigating the negative impact of climate change. Honourable Mutti said this when she planted a tree at the National Assembly of Angola Palace on Thursday, 11th May, 2023.
The Speaker said she was gratified that in line with IPU 2022 Nusa Dua Declaration “Getting to Zero: Mobilising Parliaments to act on Climate Change” the Zambian and Angolan Parliaments had made progress in planting trees in their respective countries. She stated that her planting of a tree in Angola is a clear demonstration that the two countries are committed to work together in protecting the environment.
Honourable Mutti has named the tree she planted in Angola “Carolina” which is the name of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Angola.
