The Hon Second Deputy Speaker, Honourable Moses Moyo, MP, on Saturday 22nd April, 2023 concluded a familiarization tour of selected Constituency Offices in Luapula Province. The main objective of the tour was to find out the operations of the Constituency Offices and at the same time fulfil the National Assembly motto of, “taking Parliament closer to the people.” The tour of Luapula Province started on Monday 17th April, 2023 when Honourable Moyo was received in Mansa by Luapula Province Minister, Honourable Derricky Chilundika, MP who later accompanied Honorable Moyo in planting trees outside the Mansa Central Constituency Office.
Hon Moyo and his Delegation also visited Chipili, Bahati, Mambilima, Mwense, Mwansabombwe, Kawambwa, Pambashe, Chembe, Bangweulu and Chifunabuli Constituency Offices. During the tour, Honourable Moyo, paid courtesy calls on His Royal Highness Paramount Chief Mwata Kazembe in Mwansabombwe and Chief Mushota in Pambashe. Honourable Moyo was welcomed at Constituency Offices by area Members of Parliament namely, Ms. Julien Nyemba, MP in Chifunabuli, Mr. David Mabumba, MP in Mwense, Mr. Kapampi Kabaso, MP in Mwansabombwe, Mr. Paul Chala, MP in Chipili and Mr. Cliff Mpundu, MP in Chembe.
Hon Moyo, emphasized the need for Members of Parliament to explain the role of the Constituency Offices, stressing that these offices were non-partisan. He also cautioned the members of staff who assist the Members of Parliament in the Constituency offices to be neutral in carrying out their duties so that they serve all their constituents irrespective of their political party affiliation. Hon Moyo, urged Members of Parliament and Constituency staff to work in harmony and close collaboration with Council officials in their District in efficient utilization of Constituency Development Fund (CDF). He also explained the need for all Constituency Offices to encourage their constituents to plant at least one thousand (1000) trees after planting a tree at each constituency office that he visited. The Hon Deputy Speaker took time to promote tourism by visiting the Ntumba Chushi falls in Kawambwa District.
