The objects of this Bill are to—

1. (a)  provide for the promotion of technological discovery and innovation;

2. (b)  establish the Zambia Academy of Sciences and provide for its functions;

3. (c)  provide for the investigation of matters of public interest relating to science and technology;

4. (d)  provide for the promotion of research and its utilisation in the development of science and technology; and

5. (e)  provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing.
