Pharaz Bakery Cooperative in Mpika receives K40,000 CDF Grant to boost production
Pharaz Bakery Cooperative in Kamwanya Community of Mpika Constituency has received a K40,000 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) grant to boost its operations and improve production capacity.
The grant, awarded under the 2022 CDF, has enabled the cooperative to invest in essential bakery equipment aimed at supporting income-generating activities.
Speaking in Kamwanya Community, bakery member Ms. Gift Mwansa said the funds were used to procure key equipment for the bakery.
Ms. Mwansa explained that the investment has improved production levels and helping to meet the increasing local demand.
She stated that the support received under the CDF has positively transformed the cooperative’s operations and improved the standard of living for members.
Ms. Mwansa further expressed gratitude to Government for the initiative, noting that the programme has created opportunities for communities to establish and sustain businesses.
“The impact of the project has also extended to the wider community, with local customers benefiting from access to fresh bread products,” she said.
A local customer, Mr. Clive Malama, praised the bakery for producing quality bread products. He said the initiative has become an important business within the community.
Pharaz Bakery Cooperative comprises 17 members, including 12 men and five women, who are working together to improve their livelihoods and create sustainable business opportunities.
