Siavonga Council commissions CDF-funded bulldozer

Siavonga Town Council has commissioned a bulldozer procured using the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF), a development aimed at improving infrastructure development works in the district.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony held on 3rd March, 2026, at Siavonga Town Council, Southern Province Permanent Secretary, Dr. Naman Monze, said the investment in capital equipment demonstrates Government’s commitment to ensuring that CDF resources translate into tangible development at local level.

He applauded the Council for prioritising the procurement of equipment that will deliver long-term benefits to communities and contribute to sustained development.

Council Secretary, Mr. Kennedy Shombo, said the newly acquired bulldozer will significantly improve the Council’s operational efficiency.

Mr. Shombo stated that the equipment will be used for road maintenance, land preparation, drainage improvement and other critical earthworks in the district.

He explained that ownership of the machinery will reduce dependence on hired equipment, accelerate the implementation of development projects and promote prudent utilisation of public resources.

And in a speech delivered on behalf of Chief Simamba by Mr. Phanuel L. Simamba, the traditional leader expressed gratitude to Government for taking development closer to the people.

He noted that the bulldozer will directly benefit communities through improved road networks and enhanced local infrastructure.

He further pledged continued support from traditional leaders in safeguarding and promoting development initiatives within the chiefdom.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by District Commissioner, Mr. Geoffry Jakopo, Council Chairperson, Mr. Given Kwapu, traditional leaders, civic leaders, government officials and members of the public.
