344. Mr Fube (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture:
(a) what the average maize yield per hectare was, in the 2024/2025 Farming Season, province by province;
(b) what factors influenced the maize yield per hectare in the farming season above; and
(c) what measures the Government is taking to improve maize production per hectare, countrywide.
345. Mr Nundwe (Chawama) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture:
(a) how many storage facilities for maize there were countrywide as of April, 2026, province by province;
(b) of the facilities above, how many were owned by:
(i) the Government; and
(ii) the private sector;
(c) whether the facilities at (a) will be able to accommodate the expected maize harvest from the 2025/2026 Season;
(d) how many metric tonnes of maize went to waste from the harvest of the 2024/2025 Farming Season;
(e) what the reasons for the wasted crop are;
(f) whether the Government has any plans to construct additional storage facilities; and
(g) if there are no such plans why.
346. Mr Fube (Chilubi) - to ask the Minister of Transport and Logistics:
(a) whether the maritime functions have been devolved to local authorities;
(b) if so, which local authority is responsible for managing the water transport vessels between Samfya and Chilubi Districts; and
(c) what measures the Government is taking to prevent the duplication of maritime functions.
347. Mr Nundwe (Chawama) - to ask the Minister of Education:
(a) why the verification of school certificates was removed from the Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) to the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA);
(b) whether the Government is aware of the challenges faced by members of the public in rural areas in accessing verification of academic qualifications through the online platform of the ZAQA;
(c) what measures, the Government is taking to ensure that members of the public in rural areas are able to verify their qualifications without reliance on internet-based platforms or direct access to the ZAQA offices in Lusaka; and
(d) whether the Government has considered utilising the ECZ, which has centres across the country, to facilitate easy verification of academic papers for rural communities.

Adopt Report of the Parliamentary Select Committee: That this House adopts the Report of the Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to Scrutinise the Presidential appointment of Mr Justice Chalwe Farai Mchenga, S.C., Lady Justice Abha Patel S.C., Lady Justice Getrude Chawatama, and Mr Butler Sitali to serve as Judges of the Supreme Court; Lady Justice Pixie Yangailo, Mr Justice Vincent Siloka, and Ms Getrude Imbwae to serve as Judges of the Constitutional Court; Mr Justice Charles Zulu to serve as Deputy President of the Court of Appeal; Lady Justice Sharon Kaunda Newa, Lady Justice Irene Zeko Mbewe, Lady Justice Bridget Chilombo Maka, Lady Justice Ruth Chibbabbuka, Lady Justice Conceptor Chinyanwa Zulu, and Lady Justice Susan Wanjelani to serve as Judges of the Court of Appeal, for the Fifth Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly, laid on the Table of the House on Wednesday, 6th May, 2026.
