The National Assembly (Powers ,Privileges and Immunities),Bill 2026
Parliamentary Period:
Fifth Session of the Thirteenth Assembly
The object of this Bill is to —
(a) provide for the powers, privileges and immunities of the
Members and officers of the National Assembly;
(b) provide for the attendance and privileges and immunities
of witnesses before a parliamentary committee;
(c) provide for disciplinary action against Members for breach
of privilege and contempt of the National Assembly;
(d) repeal and replace the National Assembly (Powers and
Privileges) Act, 1956; and
(e) provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the
foregoing.
