National Assembly “visits” Nkeyema

Nkeyema Parliamentary constituency became a hive of activity on Saturday, 9th September, 2017, when the National Assembly staff paid a visit to that area to share knowledge on the roles of the Member of Parliament and the role of the constituency office.  

The team from the National Assembly visited Nkeyema to mobilize and win the interest of the public to participate in parliamentary activities. The team also went to sensitise the people on the presence and use of the constituency office in the area.

In welcoming the team, area Member of Parliament, Mr Ashley Mbangweta, MP thanked the National Assembly for coming up with an initiative of the Road Show as it had proved to have captured a wide audience in the constituency. He said that he was more grateful that, his constituency being a new one, he had been able to reach out to many people through the National Assembly programme. He added that the programme was a move in the right direction and stressed the need for holding such programmes more often.

Leader of the team from the National Assembly, Mr Jimmy Sabi informed the crowd that that the National Assembly had rolled out the Road Shows programme in order to learn from dynamics related to member-constituent relations in constituencies represented by Members of Parliament from ruling and opposition political parties.

The usually quiet new district came alive when the National Assembly Road Show Ambassador Afunika set the tone by playing some of the well known tunes, much to the excitement of the audience.

The National Assembly programme held two successful road shows in Nkeyema; one at   Munkuye Secondary Schools and a well attended show at the TBZ area. In attendance were the area Member of Parliament, Mr Ashley Mbangweta, MP, the representatives from the Civic authorities, Heads of Government departments and other senior citizens in Nkeyema.
