The Deputy Executive Secretary for the Regional Centre on Small Arms and Light Weapons (RECSA), Ambassador Tharoisse Midonzi has urged Parliamentarians to continue playing a key role in the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR). He said this when his delegation from the Great Lakes Region paid a courtesy call on the Chairperson of the Committee on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Dr Peter D Machungwa, MP on Wednesday, 16th December 2009 at Parliament Buildings.

The Clerk of the National Assembly, Mrs Doris Katai K Mwinga, wishes to inform the public that Mr Charles Lubasi Milupi, Member of Parliament for Luena Constituency, was elected President of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Parliamentary Assembly and Co-President of the African, Caribbean and Pacific-European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly (ACP-EU JPA).

The Prime Minister of Kenya, Mr Raila Odinga officiated at the launch of the Harmonised Draft Constitution for Kenya, which was unveiled on 17th November, 2009. It is expected to be debated by the public for 30 days from the date it was unveiled. Mr Odinga said that personal interest should not stand in the way of a new constitution and called for sobriety, restraint and tolerance during the 30-day debate period.

Deputy Chairman of Committees of the Whole House, Hon. Mkhondo D Lungu on Monday, 30 November, 2009 addressed Hon. Members of Parliament and staff of the National Assembly of Zambia during the official opening of the Sensitisation Day to celebrate the commemoration of the Sixteen Days of Activism Against Gender Violence held at Parliament buildings.
