Hon Toshihiro Tomochika, Member of the Upper House of Councillors in the Japanese Parliament led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Hon Justice Dr Patrick Matibini, SC, MP, Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, on Thursday, 2nd February, 2012 at Parliament Buildings.

Speaker of the National Assembly Hon Justice Dr. Patrick Matibini, SC, MP, has pledged the Zambian parliament’s commitment to strengthen relations with Cuba. He said this when Cuban Ambassador to Zambia Her Excellency Ms Carmelina Ramirez, paid a courtesy call on him on Wednesday 1st February 2012 at Parliament Buildings.
The Speaker assured the Ambassador that the Zambian Parliament would strive to revive the Zambia - Cuba Parliamentary Friendship which has been inactive since the dissolution of the last Parliament.
The 6th Ordinary Session of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 16 to 20 January, 2012. The National Assembly of Zambia as a Member of the PAP is represented by five Members. The five Members attended the Session and were Mr P M Mucheleka, MP – Leader of Delegation; Mr L Mulusa, MP; Ms D Kazunga, MP; Mrs C M Mazoka, MP; and Mr D Mwango, MP.
Honourable Justice Dr Patrick Matibini, SC, MP, Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia attended and participated in the 21st Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth, held from 7th – 12th January, 2012, in Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago. The Hon Speaker was accompanied to the Conference by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mrs Doris K Mwinga and other officials. This was the first official foreign trip by the Hon Speaker following his election on 6th October, 2011.

The Clerk of the National Assembly Mrs Doris Katai Mwinga has said a good working relationship between the National Assembly and the media is important in informing and educating people about the functioning of the Zambian Parliament and its reforms.
